4th day in and feeling good

Hi,

This is my first thread on here and it is my 4th day into quitting.

This year have thought about quitting a good few times but have finally gone through with it. I have had to quit the drink also as this will trigger me to smoke again. I am 31 20 a day well was.

The only thing is my partner smokes and that is what is making it difficult am trying to pursuade her to quit also.

Any tips on to stay quit, also going to start some excercise soon .

anyway i will be coming back here for support and encouragement.

Well done to everyone here that has quit.

Good for you, I felt like shit on day 3/4/5 lol, but it gets easier. Everyone has there own methods of quitting, mine was to drink plenty of water and juice and take walks when I wanted to kill something or someone, which was often!

Post on here whenever you want for a rant/encouragement or just a chat someone will be here, the others will point you in other directions they have some sound advise to give.

Oh and yes avoid the booze that was the one that got me first time round.

Good luck

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations, having got to day 4 you have already shown yourself that you can do it, just keep your resolve and stick with it.

Staying stopped is simple just don't give in! I know easier said than done.

How you deal with the desire to smoke will be down to you. I just distract myself, posting on here is good for that. Others have their own preferred ways and will, I'm sure, pitch in.

Exercise is a great way to both show you the benefits of not smoking and a good way of distracting you from the desire to smoke.

Good luck,

Nic

;)hi and welcome

its a good idea to stay off the drink in the early days off your quit.........less temptation

are you using anything....eg..nrt,champix or are you ct?

ask your partner to smoke away from you (outside) if they can.

drink loads of water, tomato juice is good, cut down on the coffee

and shout if you need owt!! :)

hi and thanks for the replies.

Nope not using anything just cold turkey.

at work i seem to just drink water and eating loads which is not really a problem as i want to put more weight on anyway .

with the mood swings they mostly come at night when i am in bed dont know why.

But thanks for the response and will keep updating .

cheers

Good luck on your quit, everyone is very helpful and friendly here, give lots of advice where they can. Everyone is different in how they cope, aren't you the lucky one to be able to want to put weight on, most of us that have given up need to lose it lol.

Anyway best wishes, stay strong.

Good decision freeatlast!

As you are quitting XCold Turkey i would recommend that you spend as much time as you can spare on the whyquit website (link in my signature) as it has a HUGE amount of great information for Cold Turkey quitters.

i found that by reading on there i understood my quit better and also reading took my mind off having a fag in the first place.

Good luck

congratulations on your decision and welcome to the forum...loads of help and advice here plus some useful diversions...:p

at risk of being controversial:p I found that drinking more coffee helped in the early days and dare I say, alcohol...I know a lot of people find the drinks a problem but for me they took the edge off...especially when things were getting tough and I'd normally have made my way through best part of pack of cigs - and not smoking made the tough tougher - for the first few weeks... Hasten to add, only drank in the evenings and not so as I was in any way incapable!!!;)

but I do agree with the other advice - lots of water, juice ,reading and exercise for me was crucial...just love the happy hormones...:p

I really hope you can persuade your partner to quit as I know there is no way on this earth I could have quit with a smoker in the house...

good luck, keep up the good work...

Wow thanks for all the replies.

All of them really gave me some advice and encouragement.

Got to say today was the hardest. Last night just tossed and turned hardly no sleep and today was just so so so moody and nearly gave in but just kept on thinking that if it isn't now then it's never. Also had some wine today and did not give in.

Starting the excercise tomorrow then swimming on Monday, just to feel better and stay of the cigs. Have already saved around £33, which is not to bad and bought my daughter a new school bag and pencils and so on.

Just hope i can sleep tonight and hope tomorrow i'm not as moody .

Thanks for the replies, they really do help.

You are doing brilliantly, it is so easy to cave and you have shown the strength of will to resist.

Hang on in there it WILL get better.

Good luck

Hi there,

Well today is a week i believe, feeling really good.

But this not sleeping is really starting to get to me. I mean last night again

i slept hardly nothing maybe about 3 hours.

Arguing with the missus about anything just feeling really anxious and agitated.

Will this pass soon or do i have a few more weeks of this?

Im not going to let this make me go back to smoking but it's just irritating.

anyway hope you all had a good weekend.

thanks
