:confused::confused:Hello all you ex smokers ! god i feel so ill today.had really crap nights sleep ( correction had no bloody sleep ) think its the patches so im stopping them tonight. anyone else have this problem ? felt like sh**t this morning but dragged my sorry butt ( no pun intended ) to work . put it down to not having any sleep but at about 9.00am the sneezing started,then the runny eyes then the aches and pains .. I HAVE MAN FLU. well a cold really but it feels like man flu ..I NEVER HAVE COLDS .. EVER !!!! what is happening to me ? luckily i havent wanted or thought of a cig all day so thats good . but god i feel so crap! really dont want to work tmrw but i have to go ARGHHH. PLEASE TELL ME THIS WILL PASS ! anyone else had this.. oh and one other question,bit embarrasing really but what the hell we are all friends on here. thing is i can smell this horrible sh**ty smell bit like a full nappy? and its everywhere... think its stuck up my nose ? anyone else get that ? or am i slowly going insane .. " the pengiuns are calling me ! " see im going slightly mad !

Hi Katrina, I do believe it's your sense of smell returning and probably a nasty cold working on you... poor wee thing

Hi Fairy, Im trying not to blame my quit , but you know im quite glad i have this stinker of a cold.. cos i really really dont want a cig. I opened a bottle of wine tonight and poured a glass , took it to the table and the first thing i thought was "CIG" but do you know it was for just a fleeting moment. I honestly thought "oh god here comes the craving " but it never arrived. yes i thought about it.. but the craving wasnt there ! how weird is that. ?

So good to hear you feel like that! Half the battle. Even now if I have a drink I still think 'cig' but I don't hanker after one all night, hell no!

Well done Katrina, keep up the good work and I hope your stinky cold clears off soon (but it does help doesn't it)

YEH it sooo does, bit of a blessing in disguise really.Im such a baby when it comes to being sick tho.. prob cause im hardly ever sick. but im sure if i was still smoking id still have this cold and id prob feel worse infact cos it would go straight to my chest ( my weakest point due to asthma ) and id end up in hospital AGAIN. So IM HAPPY I HAVE THIS COLD !!! xxx

Thanks I feel better already and its only been 5 days! . even if i do have a nose like a bleisher beacon and eyes like a rabbit with myxamatosis ! xxx

I will be posting an anecdotal tommorow sorry too much drink hence spelling mistakes.

there is definitely a difference between nrt and ct must be discussed and conclusions must be made.

been speaking to 2 or 3 'non smokers' that used to smoke - very interseting and interested their quit methods....

I had exactly the same - the day I quit I got the mother and

father of a cold and cough - I never get colds or coughs:mad:

but I am quite sure it helped me thru the first week..

now, I'm just bloody sick of it!! went to doc's today - given some

antibiotics for my chest but really a precaution as due to have

operation next Friday and they won't do it with this cough:mad:

not had the bad smell - but then I live with bad smells - 2 labradors LOL

and when they're wet smell is just appaulling!!!

stick with it, it has to get better...:confused: I hope..

No you're not loosing your mind - you may smell it today too - it's the Europeans muck spreading and the smell is drifting to the UK

You ladies are all so lucky you just got wee colds at the start of your quit.

Like Katrina i too Had MAN FLU !!!! Surprised Kat has it though but at least she will experience what we have to go through and in the future have more sympathy....

Katrina if you are going to get rid of your patches then essential you read up about nicotine withdrawal. Try whyquit.com for great advice.

Quitting with patches is different than quitting Cold Turkey so probably best to be prepared.

Hi John.. sorry but ive gone almost 12 hours now without a patch . and yea today has been hard .. very bloody hard ! but ive done it . i just want all that nicotene outta my system asap . If i feel desperate then i know i can come here to let of a bit of steam ... if i didnt have this forum i would have prob had a puff today and thats the truth .. but being on here makes it feel like we are a big team and i"ll let my friends down if i give in ! ( just humour me here ! ) this is whats working for me . xxx

I can't speak for everyone but I suffered like hell on the patches, all i wanted was to SMOKE! When I went CT I though about smoking non stop for three days and then it gradually disappeared until only five weeks later I hardly think of it at all!

I'm glad it wasn't me being difficult because i'm sure on some level they work BUT I believe people stop inspite of them and not because of them.

I so agree .. liked the patches at first cos they gave these weird bizzare dreams . but after a couple of days i couldnt sleep so i binned them last night. ! had a fairly good sleep but oh boy was i a miserable cow today ! really short tempered and argumentative. plus i was so gagging for a cig ! honest i was ... ! i dont know how i havent given in today to tell you the truth. think its the fact ill let everyone down and be back to day one if i did. If i couldnt come here to let off steam i know for a fact i would have smoked one today ! x:mad:
