Aww Jude let me give you a hug. Which end of the country is he being sent? I know it is not the same as being round the corner but perhaps you can go and visit him at weekends. Not only will you be enjoying his company but also a change of scenery. I know it must be a wrench for you but keep your chin up. Think of all the positive things and tell old nic to take a running jump.

  • Aw Jude.. I hate quitting too, it's rubbish and hard, and especially at times like this.. but you're doing so well and a ciggie will not make your son's situation any different, in fact it will just make you feel a million times worse than you do right now.

Try and roll with how you are feeling and tell yourself it will feel better tomorrow (which it will), allow yourself to feel upset today, (of course you are going to), but also take the time to tell yourself that now you don't smoke you will have the health you need till much later in life to be able to go and visit your son whenever you like!

If you still smoked you might not have been in a position to go and visit him whenever you wanted (might have been a bit difficult to go visiting with an oxygen tank??). At least now you definately will be able to! ((BIG HUG))

  • Hi team

Sneaking a few minutes here to escape manic work-related emails.

Oh Jude - so sorry. I do not know what it is like (yet) my son is still very much staying at home at the moment being only 3 1/2. I guess I will have this to come one day...argh! I am a great believer in getting away though and will encourage him to do what I did (a lot of travelling and learning) but I am sure I will feel terrible about it...

But I can testify (living many many miles away from my parents) that I have always been very close to them and that I am in touch with them probably more so that my brothers who live close by.

    Hugs

    x

  • Awww Jude, sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will adapt though and hopefully you will not lapse any with your quit. Try to stay strong. I know its easy for us all to say that but seeing as we all know how hard it can be, the least any of us can do is be there for everyone else.

Hope you feel better soon :)

  • Aw Jude BIG hugs - im sure your little boy will miss u just as much, but a least he knows hes leaving a much healthier mum, who will be able to afford to see him as often as hes free coz shes saving so much money not smoking :D

  • Hi Jude,

I feel for you, you`re around the same age as me, my son and daughter are grown up but like you I am very attached to both of them, although they both live at home still I can appreciate how you feel as I love having them both around me.

Quitting smoking at times like this is doubly hard, but stay strong honey the team are here for you.

If you need any support im always available.

  • thanks Liz, they may be grown up but they are still ours :)

its hard coz im keeping my feelings to myself (apart from you lot and the world! ) dont want either of my sons to know that them moving away is killing me , if they have to go, i want them to be happy.

  • Hey Jude :p

Hope you're feeling a bit better today. Life sure is a git sometimes isn't it? (to put it mildly).

You know you don't want to have a cig and undo all your hard work, so, instead, why don't you just find your way round to mine and get stuck in to my housework while I supervise? :D *hates housework*

  • Hi jude,

Hope you are feeling better today, have a hug from me. :)
