So,

How's the new crew?

I'm still feeling cold most of the time...funny that.

Mark you. it is cold in the mornings here and I'm getting up before dawn...0500 in England.

Otherwise things are just tickety-boo!

Come to think of it, I did see that it was below freezing in some parts of UK .

I better warm up soon or I'll be in trouble.

Morning Yoyoyo!

I was wrong to laugh about stripping the 4X4, Dd...When we (not me) got back to it yesterday, the back axle, diff and drive shafts, the whole front assembly and lights had GONE! The engine was unbolted but had dropped into the sand (the car being upside down an' all).

Bearing in mind that this was 38 Km from the nearest road, do I think the Bedouin came by with a caravan of camels and the right tools? No...someone here got on the blower to his mates in the nearest town!

Wow! Smuggling and banditry are a timeworn tradition down in the desert!

Wooh,

Morning Sue!

You sound bright.

That's brilliant.

Now, just to talk about the sideeffects of not smoking for a moment...I've been mixing quitting with doing yoga and I'm finding a huge benefit in opening up which seems to be in the body and - what can I call it - emotions, feelings, spirit - call it what you will.

I have an instinct that smoking smothers uncomfortable fears of one sort or another...we most of us start when we're in our early or late teens - a very anxious time for lots of people. So stopping smoking lets that stuff OUT.

Seems to be that way for me, anyway. And my ex is a reformed smoker, who went through quite a prolonged spell of emotional rollercoasters before it levelled out...three months + she said.

No wonder it's a challenge.

Let's try to stay as positive as we are today and help each other when qwe're not!

Hmmm, that's interesting...So you were sort of a bumbtious smoker.

With me it's been sadder (I mean not 'weepy' sadder, just weak-and feeble sadder!).

I've tried to stop , and stopped for a bit, for decades. really, decades (I'm ashamed to admit it...How feeeeeble is that?

just I 'Couldn't' do it.

What bullshit is that?

Always told myself it was too difficult. Went through all the hypotherapy, acupuncture, gum, patches. I have got to know the sstages of withdrawal like a book..I suppose that's an advantage. Plus, over the last few years (partly cos some of that time I had a VERY intolerant girlfreind), I have gradually come to recognise that there's no 'can't' about it...just 'haven't really decided to'.

So far so good, and, for me, having company here and a team, is hugely motivating.

So, if anyone out there is idly flicking through this stuff, I would absolutely 100% recommend getting some No-Smoking-Buddies.

Who else needs to hear this stuff? But it's great to be able to talk about what, for me, has been a long long long story.

On to tomorrow, one day at a time...and thanks for your post, Sue...we're a team!

Hiya and well done - are you on Champix by any chance? I know it is frosty outside, but I haven't felt warm in two days! And I've read that can be one of the more uncommon side effects brrrrrrrr.

btw I agree with what you said about this forum - I found it by accident whilst googling.....or was someone guiding my hand, I wonder? ;)

I started in my teens ... to be like the rest of my mates

Now I am much older, a little more wiser. After my husband had an heart attack at the age of 37 due to smoking it gave us the wake up call we needed. We both stopped just after the new year, but stupid me had one about a month later, thats why I am back to square one.

I dont want to go through what I saw with my husband

Hi Barbara,

I've seen your name about on the forum.

Nice to meet you.

No, I'm not using Champix (Zyban was a total failure for me, which put me off).

I'm using a puffer.

What happens when you stop using the NRT is the $64,000 question.

I am also over-weight, not a lot, but enough to make me think about it. So I focused on healthy foods which took my mind off smoking. I yo-yo'd a bit during the first month (hence my name) but I never took it serious, just cautious about what i ate. I know doing too many things would be wayyyyy too much and I suppose that could be one of the reasons i slipped up.

I am very focused at the moment and if ever I feel an urge to do something, i would turn to food, not smoking! But when I do get that irriable, restless feeling, i stick my exercise dvd on and get moving. It really is helping me battle my demons.

Anyway, Ive rambled enough for one day .... tune in for the next exciting episode .... :D :D :D

Wow.

That must have frightened the pants off you!

Good motivation, I guess, but not the way one would choose to get it.

Makes me even MORE determined that this is the end of it...I'm 57!!!!

Hey!

groovy!

I'll let you into a secret...I got in a fullpage colour spread in the local paper when my daughter Lydia dragged me to a Bjorn Again concert with some of her mates.

More to do with the blond wig and hotpants she was wearing than anything about me..but there! My moment of local glory!

Thanks KB...and how can we fail with you dancing along?????
