cut the patch theory thread

after my recent post which included cutting patches i thought it might be good to chat about it in one thread

now is is this way round ....15mg patch over 16 hrs if cut un half will it allow 7.5mg to release over 16hrs OR 15mg over half the time 8hrs

would love to hear your theory :confused:

If you cut the patches the gel inside will leak out and be ineffective and what doesn't leak out will dry up. Please use a new one each day to get the maxium amount of benefit.

thanks for the reply .....the reason i asked is a 5mg nicorette patch is a third of the size of a 15mg

It would be 7.5mg over 16 hours.

Cindy is right that leakage may reduce the dose you receive, BUT if you are cutting down anyway then this may not matter as much. IF you do try this bear in mind that you may get an irregular dose so beware of any possible negative effects.

My Patches didn't have liquid in them, the NRT was spread over the whole patch did cut one to find this out, as long as you leave the cover over the cut bit should be fine, but if you stick to the course you should be fine and not need to mess with them
