So here we go

Just introducing my self

My name is Helen and I am 60.

I have been on crutches for 4 years having osteoarthritis in both knees.

I had an operation on my left knee then had 12 weeks of hydrotherapy and physiotherapy and lost the crutches.

Then was diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol and put on medication.

Then on Thursday as turned around to open blinds my left knee gave way, went down and landed on my right knee.

So now on strong pain killers.

Have to wait for my knees to heal and then start all over again to strengthen them,

So here I go starting to eat healthy food and hope to lose weight and try to come ofall the medication.

I can’t believe it’s taken all this to realise how unhealthy I’ve got

Hello Helen

I feel your pain. Im just into my 5th week of recovery from rupturing my left knee after a fall going to work. Thankfully not in much pain only if i jar it the wrong way. I've got quite a bit of weight to lose and was trying to lose it before my fall. But trying to get inspiration from this site and seeing your post has given me some. 🤗

Sorry to hear about everything you're going through Shires It sounds like you've had one of those light bulb moments :)

I hope your situation improves soon and wish you well on your new healthy lifestyle journey.

Thanks so much

Hi Helen,

Sounds like you have had a tough time recently. I also have Osteoarthritis and need to lose at least 20 kg to help the pain. I would love to be able to support you on your journey and hope that you reach your goals.

I am starting today with 5kg loss targets. I aim to walk every day and start with gentle stretches and exercises. I plan to eat 1300 calories a day of healthy food.

I am on a lot of medication and like yourself would love to lessen this or remove completely.

I am 52 years of age, weigh 91kg and am 5 feet 9 inches tall.

My first 5 kg loss target date is 1/01/18.

Would love support too.
