Case Managers?

Hi everyone, I'm just curious as to what a case manager in the US does and whether I should be worried about having one.

I've been seeing therapists for almost 20 years and have been offered one before but never wanted one.

Idek what they do, it just stressed me out in the past even thinking about it. I can't remember what I was told years ago but it was something to do with them coming to my house to chk on me etc. I dnt like having company lol.

I know there's more to it than that and there are advantages... Idk I also have trust issues I guess.

But anyway one called me today out of the blue and I set up an appt w him for Monday.

Any info would be great. Thanks

My son has different people helping him and they are only there to help you and I did have several people dealing with me when I was recovering - only there to help me, along - planning for my future or what I could do at the time

Thank you! I hope you're right - and I'm sure you are. I don't even know what I'm afraid of. 💖

I have one in the UK, they manage and arrange treatments for my condition like I have just been through now. Mine was a Specialist, medical who specialized in Pensioner services. He was a central core for getting results various treatments like Flat Bed and Scans etc.

Depending on your condition and your age and disability you will find your treatments will be directed towards your condition, they have better understanding of your needs and expectations

Do not worry it is a helpful asset for you and what is needed to help your condition

Thank you for your kind reply. I do feel better about it now.

If anything I'll probably wish I'd gotten one sooner lol.

I've needed help for a very long time. 💖

Generally you will find the system has many good things going for it especially if you have multiple problems, you will find that this works well.

Good Luck

Thank you. Yea I have c-ptsd, anxiety disorder, adhd, depression, celiac, pernicious anemia, chronic iron deficiency requiring frequent infusions, a heart condition, hypersomnolence, lots of weakness and fatigue, etc. So I'm thankful my conditions aren't worse or terminal but I can't take meds for adhd bc of the heart condition & I can't take meds for anxiety bc of side effects, everything either knocks me out completely or affects my heart.

I'm kind of like a chicken with it's head cut off with the small amount of energy I do have. I can't get the smallest things done like making a list or symptom diary lol. My thoughts are everywhere.

I can't make many of the calls I need to make. Insurance won't pay for appointments/treatments I need etc.

Plus I have 2 teenage boys at home who take better care of me than I do of them. They don't even have friends bc they're not in public school, they homeschool.

They're drowning bc mom's drowning. So I can see where a case manager can help.

Idk why I don't like listing my conditions either especially when I'm asking for help lol.

I need to get over that.

Thanks again for the help and well wishes. I really appreciate it.

Take care 💕
