Hi I wandering if anyone experienced this !, I’m taking Amitriptyline 25 mg for 4 weeks now to help me coupe with my horrible anxiety ,panic ataques and depression .i guess is helping a little bit with the anxiety and panic .but no charge on depression,I know is to soon to make a difference as they say it may take 6 to 8 weeks for the medication to kick in..however I decided to go up my dosage to 30 mg to see if it help a little bit more , huge mistake first day I was fine, but second day I started to feel worse I almost had a panic ataque and anxiety depression is out of control.. not sure if it is because I up the dosage to 30 mg !. Think I might go back to 25 mg , I also fell like crying most of the time ;I fell so hopeless 😩 don’t think I ever going to find medication to help me !? tried so many different ones since November last year ..Prozac ,sertraline , citalopran .venlafaxine ,paroxinetine ..and none of Than helped me .. doctors running out of ideas .. not sure what to do next ... 🤔is anyone ever experience this ?

Does your doctor know that you upped your dosage? If not, a consultation with that person would answer most of the question you pose here. I was on the same drug and it helped somewhat with pain and cognition, but I found I had to learn more about the issues with which I was diagnosed and take personal responsibility for my own health and wellbeing in addition to visits with my doctor.
What helped me most was taking a course online called The Pillars of Wellbeing by Dr. Rick Hanson - the cost is $300 US but if you can't afford it you can apply for one of their scholarships as I did and begin to learn from this talented author who has for over 30 years taught people like you and I to feel less stressed, worried or blue; have more fulfilling relationships; find a deep authentic deep sense of self worth and achieve lasting well-being in a changing world. If you are awarded a scholarship you will have a lifelong access to the year long program which you can do over and over again to stabilize your life in addition to whatever your doctor recommends.
In just an hour a week, Dr. Hanson gives you life skills on how to cope with life's challenges: steadying your mind, rising to challenges, improving relationships and most importantly helping you to learn to be on your own side by letting go of self-criticism and being more compassionate towards yourself.
The course teaches you the twelve pillars of wellbeing and there is even exercises to do within each module applying what you have just learned.
Each module contains an informative teaching by Dr. Hanson - you can inquire about this course and others at rickhanson.net
You can also access his videos on YouTube!
I wish you well, there is hope!
That's quite a low dose I believe, and may not be sufficient for treating depression. Of course, even if you go higher in dose there is no guarantee that it helps you.
It seems you haven't yet tried monoamine oxidase inhibitors. (Hope I spelled that correctly.) So that may be an option for you, depending on the services where you live.
Psychiatrists can try drug combinations getting into last resort territory. Also new types of antidepressant are still being developed.
I know is low dosage my doctor won’t let me go any high I’m very sensitive to medication......finally I have been referred to see a psychiatrist but I have to wait until August..Is not good when you tried somany medication with no luck ... it makes you fell like that you never going to get better..because of those feelings .the horrible anxiety and depression gets a lot an worse 😢
I haven't found one that works yet either, although I haven't tried as many as you have. Maybe the next one...
How long you ben trying all those medication? I fell so horrible ...I started all those trials since October last year and so far nothing help me ..some made me worse and some made me sleep all day and very depressed worse than before ...Prozac and velanfaxine was the worse ones for me they both give me terrible panic atack all day long almost adimited my self in to hospital thinking I was having hart ataque... omg way do we have to suffer all this !. Btw I hope you find one medication to help you soon ..and the some for me ..all the best .. Nina
I started September of last year. I was never offered Prozac for whatever reason; the two SSRIs that my doctor wanted to use were either Citalopram or Sertraline, so I tried both of them. They did seem to take the edge off of anxiety for a while, but limited benefit and came with side effects. More recently trying mirtazapine which is easier to tolerate but not seeming to be doing that much for me. I have seen too many people complain about venlafaxine to want to try that one. Gotta get out of taking that stuff one way or another.
Thank you for your kind words, and I hope you also find a medication that works for you soon.
If you keep changing medications, not giving them enough time to work you end up on medications from an earlier time, you have been on most other medications and it is possibly you have jumped over one that really would have worked for you
The drug you are on now is an old AD, I take them now for nerve and joint pain on a very low dose about 40mg. I take Citalopram for my Reactive Depression, 20mg
The dose you where advised to take is a low dose, increasing it by 10mg will not make much difference. However you do not know what your GP is trying to achieve with your medication, in other words, do as you are told. Time when it comes down to drugs working are just that, however consider we are all different and explaining how you are now feeling I would advise you see your GP.
Sometimes I feel many people feel the side effects they consider are from the drug however sometimes this can be all down to the Anxiety and low mood. I is always a shame when we take medications the dose set can increase our expectations. Just because you feel an increase may work well does not mean that is the case, your GP knows you and I would gather He wants to see how you go. Testing possibly your expectations

Yes I know that ..but I have taking all the medication for over month some of Than 6 weeks..the problems I have with Than all is instead of getting better I actually get worse and I mean worse !!
If you mix and match drugs side effects especially problems can occur when hopping over from one medication to the next, next etc
Talk with your GP once more and discuss you drug, and side affects

Make your list of what you wish to talk about when you attend your appointment. You will be able to better explain how you feel and it will help you not to forget anything
At the moment I am going through medication reviews, also treatment pathways in hospital because of physical weakness, and mental health, they are trying to make my mood more positive, so you are not alone, worrying about what life and medical profession have in store for us. In my case I have to negotiate my treatments and medication as discussed by Pain Clinic. It took two years to work out the best medications for me, it was a learning experience
I do feel life with depression and anxiety is hard, and I hope all goes well with your appointment.
Let us know how you get on with your GP
Keep a hold
