Is there a ‘better’?

Hi all, first post so bear with me. I’m a young adult who is currently suffering from anxiety (generalized), depression, and ADHD. It has been almost 5 years since my diagnosis but recently things have been at an all time bad. I have been terrible with treatment, I can never seem to get the routine to take medication regularly and scheduling appointments/calling people is very difficult for me.

But as I said, lately things have been at an all time bad. I can’t seem to quiet the noise in my head and I feel like I’m in a constant state of being overwhelmed. I’m beginning to question myself more than ever. Will I ever get better? Or will I live feeling like this forever?

I could use input so please do. I don’t have many in my life who can relate to me, let alone understand what I am going through..

Hi Tbone.

Welcome to you.

Im sorry to hear of your struggles right now ..I’m not a medic but from my observations around what you are saying I would mention that if you have medication subscribed then it does need to be taken as directed and regular, because that can really mess up how you feel if you are not consistent, ...a routine with meds is imperative...perhaps get a dossett box with the days of the week on to place meds’ in, and set an alarm for times you should take..if you use a mobile phone they have alarms on usually..if treatment is suggested and provided it’s important to stick to it over a period of time to allow it to help you feel better and let the medic know if it’s not having an affect or if any possible side affects, if there are any.. In my opinion, things can get better, maybe we don’t fully recover but we can learn to manage things to enable us to have a better quality of life.

I also feel knowledge is power and to learn about our illnesses and what works for us to provide us with peace and hopefully some tranquility is a great thing..I meditate and practise mindfulness that’s what suits me and my symptoms at times..

I hope others come along and provide you with input too.

I’m glad you found us here 😊

I’m in the uk so just off to get some 😴 sleep

Every good wish to you x

Thank you for replying Olivia. I know about my meds. I’ll be really good about them for a few weeks and then suddenly stop for one reason or another. If I miss more than one dose I typically stop taking it and talk with my dr the next appointment. But along with my ADHD I just feel like my brain is constantly foggy and my attention span is terrible.

I’ve tried meditation, but haven’t in some time. Maybe it is something I should get back into. At least when it gets bad. What seems uncontrollable is the constant state of being overwhelmed with different stimulus.

Anyways, thank you for your input. I’m glad you were willing to share. It’s already nice just to be able to express myself and have others know what I mean when I talk.

Off to ya 😴

Hiya.

No problem ,

It’s good you are aware around your meds, as this could be the cause of some of your problems..

It’s good to have you around, and like you say great for us to be able to express ourselves in this setting..

Good wishes x

Welcome aboard ... Meditation and Mindfulness like what Olivia40 has mentioned is the way forward .. Check out on YouTube many great teachers .. You will not feel fixed overnight as it takes daily repetition of such factors in order to feel better.. You will then find order in your life and regain control .. The more you do the better you become

Welcome

You need to take your medications on a regular basis, follow the label supplied on the box.

You will need to allow five weeks for the medications to work. If you fail to take your medication, you may get worse or not get well. Consider ways of remembering your medications. A dated pill box may help. However taking medications are your responsibility
