whats the point

No matter what I do I cant change. At least not fast enough.

I push myself to be present and energetic for my partner and work suffers. I push myself to learn and grow at work to secure my position aaannd my home life suffers.

I just dont see the point. I'm on 100mg of sertraline - that helped for a while. Not I just feel listless again.

I mean, seriously, whats the point if I lose my job or lose my fiance. Whats the point in staying with my love if I have to lose my job and scrub pots for a living? Whats the point in succeeding at work if I lose my missus?

- We were all raised being told we were special, that we were the smartest, the best, the winners. Its all lies of course. Lies we all know. But its stuck in there, like my cigarette cravings and vestages of my CofE upbringing. Its all annoying baggage but its tying me down.

I want a clean slate but I know, I know I'll just skrew it up.

Honestly I'm only writing this so I can get this all out. I doubt anyone will really care - everyone has their own baggage to deal with. Whats mine going to inspire?

I'm a waste, a waste of space, of love, of resources and time. So much time has been ploughed into me and I just keep getting everything wrong !. I mean for crying out loud I have been given a million chances and I just throw them all away!

Hello emparedados

Thank you for your message. You are obviously in a difficult place. Please do remember we certainly do care, you are definitely not a waste of space, love, resources or time. Things do move so slowly or it can feel as if they do.

You may need to be less harsh on yourself.

You may get some things wrong but look at all the care and love you have and are giving to your brother, parents and partner, there must be so much that is right too. Could you talk things through with family or friends?

Have you seen your doctor and explained how things are at the moment?

Our members are really supportive so may also be able to offer more information or experience.

The charity MIND might offer more support at

Www.mind.org with a helpline 0300 123 3393

Do get back to us and let us know how you are

Best wishes

hey im sorry that life is hard just now.despite my troubles I care.i care for everyone one here suffering the same as me.your defo not a waste of space and you might just need another million chances before life changes for the better.so what if your cleaning pots it helps to make ends meet lots of folk on here including me would do it for a living.have you thought about a change of medication.please remember you are not alone and we do care.

You are no different to most of the population outside in this wild and cold world.

If you feel at a loss when you look at your life, I will stand strong and say you are not alone and how can we try and sort it out.

In the first instance I can generally confirm as we get older life becomes more of an acceptance of who and what we are. However life is full of Cricket Ball Googlies that suddenly twist and turn and confuse us all throughout our decades of life on this round world, just to keep us on our toes.

You have problems and you need to address them, hopefully without medications or possibly discuss your problems to unsympathetic supposed friends etc

Split each problem into several chunks, split the chunk into tiny bites then correct each bite and eventually a chunk will be reached and that problem will be sorted etc

If you get stuck on one problem go to the next and work on others, eventually you will be able to address the earlier problem and you will be able to move on.

The same can be said for things you dislike of yourself, sort out your concerns in small chunks and bites eventually you will be able to move on.

You can PACK UP SMOKING the same way described above in small bites, eventually you will stop cigarettes. I used the method in the 70s I smoked sixty cigarettes a day and I packed it in following the ways above.

However these days to stop smoking your GP can help

I understand how you feel because I've been there myself and often. We all have to appreciate that there's huge competition surrounding us in whatever we choose to do. We're bombarded with images and news of the most successful amongst us and it's natural for many of us to want to aspire to the positions of glory they inhabit. We have to remember that they've spent years trying to get to the position they occupy at present. Do you honestly think they've not been where you are at the moment at times? It's often negative thoughts that propel us to getting on with our lives. It may not be where we imagine we would like to be at that particular moment, however life is a long and winding road which often reveals new and unexpected scenery. So it's important to continue walking along it until the scenery changes. When we look back we're always grateful we never took any drastic measures to endanger what we took for granted. We are all on our road to Damascus and it's often the way we perceive reality that makes all the difference. I wish you all the very best!
