Most of us have had the experience of being so mad and frustrated that we want to punch someone or have a good old fashioned temper tantrum, but of course we have enough self control to refrain. My Mother would never have tolerated that so the most I could do was pout. I think I see more of this in children in recent years, so miserable and out of control and the parent pretty much ignores it . Has any one else noticed this? Is it an American thing ? What do you suppose these children will be like as adults ? Actually I see some adults having little mini fits in stores and in traffic. When did we become so intolerant ? pam

DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE HAVING A TEMPER TANTRUM ?
Hi Pam,
I think everyone feels like throwing some, if not all, of the toys from their prams some times. The reasons for this, like being a child are when things aren't going their way (when you're a child you get grumpy because your tired - usually), adults can get grumpy for a variety of reasons - but the main one, I have found, is that others simply don't understand them - this leads to frustration (at best) and anger (at worst). I honestly think that self regulation through slow, measured and deep breathing, gives your body and mind valuable seconds to regain composure - if that doesn't work, throw a wobbler!
Hi Pam I had to laugh at that coz I had a temper tantrum as an adult a few years ago. I was in a pub (virtually no one in) with a friend and there was this very grumpy man I knew vaguely. I said something about someone else to my friend and he overheard me and started going on at me. I tried for ages to get him to shut up but he refused getting me more and more mad.
That's when I decided to have a tantrum and thought how fun it would be. So I stamped my foot and shook just like a child shouting shut up! He was so shocked his mouth opened wide and he did shut up! My friend looked at me with huge eyes and couldn't believe it. Meanwhile my good temper resumed I made a joke about it and she thought it was funny too. Thoroughly enjoyed my tantrum xx
