I was just thinking back to when i had a really difficult problem. It was a very difficult time and there seemed to be no way beyond it, no way to recover. Things were not getting better and having attempted so many things, all positive things to help. It still wasn’t getting that final hurdle. Although so many positive things were happening, it still seemed dark, not being able to find the exit from the roundabout. Yet that roundabout was a positive one.
It is said that things get better and understanding that is easy in hindsight. It is easy to look back and think what was going on is now in the past and things are better.
My point to all this is, if you are stuck on a roundabout. Keep going, things do take practice, things take effort. If you haven’t got the effort today. Don’t worrie, try again tomorrow. Practice really does make perfect. Try not to beat yourself up about it.
So what was my lightbulb moment? I cant really remember the exact thing. It was a goal that was trying to be reached. It was a good bit of advice, I had gone over the advice a thousand times it seems and it made sense. I wasn’t stupid and it was a positive step. The only thing was I hadn’t fully comprehended it. This may sound silly and it is really hard to explain how I understood something. Like day is light but then i didn’t really understand it.
And that was it......
The lightbulb moment, it was like understanding that day is light. But understanding this ment I could go outside without being scared.
And so it just took time for that moment to happen. I wasn’t expecting it to happen. It was so obvious in hindsight that it seemed stupid I didn’t think of it before. I suppose that is way i can’t really remember, what the exact thing was.
I wish everyone the time they need and good luck with the practice they have at making things better again.
I made some art that you can use. Feel free to download the image and share.
Have you a lightbulb moment you can share?

Hi AppsFun, thank you for your post. I am sure it will help other members of the forum. Do any other forum members have a lightbulb moment that they wish to share, please? Thank you and best wishes.
One of my lightbulb moments was when I did a course called 'Planning and Implementing Recovery' at my local Recovery Hub (focussed on helping service users and their carers and families, as well as NHS staff involved in mental health provisioning). I felt that the only possible way forward would be for somehow my symptoms to just stop (they can be very invasive). The course helped me understand it could be enough to just try and lead a normal healthy active balanced life despite the symptoms of your particular situation. When the symptoms come, do your best to overcome them or sidestep them, but the focus can be on just doing your best to be happy and lead a good life ANYWAY.
I sure wish I could have your clarity and lightbulb moments, I'm so confused at the moment I'm even eating cat mint at the moment after all it makes my cats roll around the garden in ecstasy maybe it will help?
Just not sure you're right about practice makes perfect and sometimes that's our problem, if we keep practicing or doing the same things over and over yet feeling we can't cope, not sure it helps. I play the piano and practicing only makes perfect if you practice perfectly, so it has to be perfect practice makes it right?
I know I’m not perfect at things but I have got better. I don’t think I’ve got anything perfect but i do hope you gain clarity and things go well for you. Thanks for your reply.
You don't need to be *perfect* at mindfulness to take an outdoor moment to try and calm and watch your thoughts as they pass through your higher conscious mind. You don't need to be perfect at deep slow breathing to feel a benefit after a minute or two.
Catnip (if that's what you've taken) was referred to in a herbal book I was reading yesterday as beneficial.
Hi zoe, exactly, it's not about trying to be perfect, just practicing in the perfect way, mindfulness and similar are perfect. Xxx
Yes I read catnip was supposed to be good for nasal drip as my sinuses are problematic , but like lots we read on the WWW ones never quite sure, but my cats are sure happy .
Take care and keep smiling x

Lightbuld moments are getting quite rare for me at this time. When it comes to roundabouts or traffic lights there are very few where I am now. I see one or two when shopping although sometimes some right hand turns can be problematic when we on narrow unclassified roads. When we go into some of the larger town or cities I find exhausted when we get back.
Mind I find car navigation good when I just need to enter postcodes.
Mind the Lady on the above sounds nice, sometimes She talks to me Lol.
as convincing as they can sound (and I've been convinced of some strange things over the years), be wary of falling into the psychological trap of the voices, especially those being broadcast into your brain rather than unusual things with a TV or whatever (which in my experience are less often from the enemy).
I had a free group meeting with a Herbalist / Nutritionist yesterday. Apparently the Vitamin D our skin makes from the sun is incredibly important, it's becoming known as a hormone as well as a vitamin and lack of it has been linked to both depression and bipolar. To get enough though you need to be in bright sunshine with both your full arms and legs uncovered for 20+ mins a day? Who does this? Less than half of us which is why roughly 50% plus people in the UK are deficient.
I supplement with a vitamin D and calcium chewables. My GP suggested 1000 units a day (which is roughly 2.5 chewables).
