Of course exceptions to this. But so often abused become the abusers. Those powerless in areas of their life, when gaining power, then go on to do what they previously complained about. Minorities discriminated, when gaining power over others, discriminate even more. This can be viewed in society daily.
If it was so bad or wrong to begin with, then why do it unto others? Revenge?
The logical thing to do would be to change things to what is right and just.
Do these people not see the hypocrisy in what their doing?

I think many people lack understanding and empathy towards others. They are not self aware enough or care that they are doing wrong to others like it was done to them. It seems they internalise it as 'normal' and see no problem in doing the same to others.
My mother often said her own mother was very harsh with her words and it really affected her. However she used some very harsh and vicious words with her own children but seemed to think she wasn't as bad as her mother. Now having known my grandmother I don't see how she could have been worse!
My mother had some very narcisstic traits and no empathy at all. She expected to be able to slag us off then treat it as something very unimportant and when we cried we cried alone as she had no sympathy with us. I think there are lots of people in life like that.
One of my sisters and myself are self aware and emphatic enough to change that behaviour in ourselves so we are nothing like that. We know better thank goodness. x
I came across something online one day about boarding school syndrome. It says that when young children are sent to boarding school it is common for them to become 'callous' and cruel in their behaviour. Nothing the attitudes and behaviour of the ex-Bullendon members in our current Government this seems to bear it out. x
