AND STILL BE BOLD ON SWINGS,

O, TO DWELL ON TREASURES PAST,

YET FEAR NOT WHAT THE FUTURE BRINGS,

O, FOR A FOUR-LEAFED CLOVER!

O, FOR A MORN WITHOUT A NIGHT,

O, FOR A TUNNEL FILLED WITH LIGHT,

O, FOR GIVING WITH NO LOSS,

O, FOR JESUS WITH NO CROSS,

O, FOR THE LIFTED VEIL!

O, FOR “NEAR” WITHOUT “AFAR”,

O, FOR THE PEACE WITHOUT THE WAR,

O, FOR HOPE WITHOUT ITS DOUBT,

O, FOR A HEAVEN WITH NO DEVOUT,

O, FOR THAT FINAL CURTAIN!

AGAINST THE TIDE.

O, FOR WASHDAY WITH NO BLUES,

O, FOR T.V. WITH NO NEWS,

O, FOR THE CHILD WITHOUT THE BIRTH,

O, FOR HAPPINESS HERE ON EARTH,

O, FOR A WISHING WELL!

O, FOR A ROSE WITHOUT A THORN,

O, FOR THE CALM WITHOUT THE STORM,

O, FOR DARKNESS WITHOUT FEAR,

O, FOR LOVE WITHOUT A TEAR,

O, FOR THE BLARNEY STONE!

O, FOR SOLITUDE SERENE,

O, FOR JOY THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN,

O, FOR DEATH WITHOUT HIS STING,

O, FOR EVERY HAPPY THING,

O, FOR THAT RAINBOW’S END!

O, FOR HONEY WITHOUT THE BEE,

O, FOR TIME TO FIND THE KEY,

O, FOR KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT PAIN,

O, FOR ABEL WITHOUT CAIN,

O, FOR A SILVER LINING!

O, FOR MAGIC WITH NO WAND,

O, FOR WATCHES WITH NO HANDS,

FOR NO FAMINE AFTER FEAST,

O, FOR BEAUTY WITHOUT THE BEAST,

O, FOR THE DISNEY STAR!

O, FOR TRUST WITHOUT SUSPICION,

O, FOR MIRTH WITHOUT DERISION,

FOR DELIGHT WITHOUT DELUSION,

O, FOR THOUGHT WITHOUT CONFUSION,

O, FOR A PEARL OF WISDOM!

O, TO GAIN ON ROUNDABOUTS,

AND STILL BE BOLD ON SWINGS,

O, TO DWELL ON TREASURES PAST,

YET FEAR NOT WHAT THE FUTURE BRINGS,

O, FOR A FOUR-LEAFED CLOVER!

O, FOR A MORN WITHOUT A NIGHT,

O, FOR A TUNNEL FILLED WITH LIGHT,

O, FOR GIVING WITH NO LOSS,

O, FOR JESUS WITH NO CROSS,

O, FOR THE LIFTED VEIL!

O, FOR “NEAR” WITHOUT “AFAR”,

Amazing. I am sure I am not the only one to benefit from reading your poems but not everyone comments. I have kept it. Thank you, Gx

Against the tide.

O, for washday with no blues,

O, for t.v. with no news,

O, for the child without the birth,

O, for happiness here on earth,

O, for a wishing well!

O, for a rose without a thorn,

O, for the calm without the storm,

O, for darkness without fear,

O, for love without a tear,

O, for the blarney stone!

O, for solitude serene,

O, for joy that might have been,

O, for death without his sting,

O, for every happy thing,

O, for that rainbow’s end!

O, for honey without the bee,

O, for time to find the key,

O, for knowledge without pain,

O, for Abel without Cain,

O, for a silver lining!

O, for magic with no wand,

O, for watches with no hands,

For no famine after feast,

O, for beauty without the beast,

O, for the disney star!

O, for trust without suspicion,

O, for mirth without derision,

For delight without delusion,

O, for thought without confusion,

O, for a pearl of wisdom!

O, to gain on roundabouts

And still be bold on swings,

O, to dwell on treasures past,

Yet fear not what the future brings,

O, for a four-leafed clover!

O, for a morn without a night,

O, for a tunnel filled with light,

O, for giving with no loss,

O, for Jesus with no cross,

O, for the lifted veil!

O, for “near” without “afar”,

O, for the peace without the war,

O, for hope without its doubt,

O, for a heaven with no devout,

O, for that final curtain!

There are 2 bits to this poem but I have them the wrong way round. The poem should begin with the line,"O, for wash day with no blues" and end with "O, for that final curtain." I can't fix it.Sorry.I don't know how to delete the mistake.

It's very kind of you to say so, kenster1., but I know my limitations.

Are you kidding? As I said on another of your posts. They are truly great poems and I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it.

I think they are great it would be amazing sitting in a little pub up in Orkney with a blazing big mantle log fire on a dark night and you telling them to an audience captivated in the moment.

There are many more stored away in my computer. If you don't mind, I will add a few. I have already added "The Basket". BTW, Chica is now lying with her soft head on my foot. She does this when she wants to be taken to my bedroom for the night.I wish you all a peaceful rest but, if you are in the UK, remember to put the clocks back an hour.
