Laugh then cry?

I've noticed that when i find something really funny i do the usual laugh till your tearing up but then i actually burst into tears and properly crying.. I dont understand

I do the same thing when I'm anxious or in an uncomfortable situation . It's awkward isn't it? I don't have an answer. I try to find a quiet corner to compose myself. Pam

after a bit of research i've come across something i don't understand to well. but apparently your mind does this thing called Emotional homeostasis where it tries to maintain an ideal state to function in social or cognitively demanding situations.

that means if your overwhelmed by something and it impairs you, the mind will try to balance it out to maintain control, like laughing so hard you lose awareness of the things around you.

another similiar theory says that your mind can actually get to much of a certain stimiulis like anxiety and uses Emotional homeostasis to fix that.
