I'm 16, have had severe depression and anxiety for around a year, I'm having rapid mood swings on top. Could these mood swings possibly be normal puberty on top of depressionew?

So sad that kids are having depression these days :(. Apparently thousands of years ago, before civilisation, they didn’t have depression or mental illness. They didn’t have worry about stupid things like paying bills, doing well in exams, buying a house and getting a job and all that rubbish.
I wish I could have been born in a time when we didn’t have the worries that we have today.
Sorry, I kind of took over your thread! Hope you overcome depression someday. It’s an awful disease and no one should have it. If there were a god they wouldn’t have made such a stupid disease! Another reason that i’m an atheist!
I agree. I'm not religious, I am however spiritual and believe there is a huge energy people define as "God" but I'm pretty much an athiest too if u get me and take over the thread all you want x 😂
You are so very young. Puberty can be a roller coaster of sorts. If you are suffering from depression and anxiety (overly sensitized nerves) it can make your normal mood swings so much worse. I think you should seek help. Your parents, a school therapists etc. I think understanding why you are suffering goes a long way in helping to overcome it. I’m here if you need to talk but have to suggest you talk to therapists, doctor, parents etc. in your life since you are so very young. I’m also a mom and grandma and I would hate to know my son was hurting or suffering and I wasn’t doing everything I possibly could to try and take that away from him. That spiritual energy you speak of is also a very healing energy if you let it. No judgement. I don’t judge anyone for their opinions. Just love and concern as a parent and a patient and a caregiver. Reach out if you ever need it.
Hi Jamanha - sorry you have been feeling low - think advice from doctors or may be a nurse might help but also think you could ask any of your family if they experienced the same problems at your age. Also think you could check your diet for deficiency such as iodine,
iron and vitamins such as f, vitamin c, bvits especially b12 - and vitamin k and d.
Thyroid problems if undiagnosed can give rise to mood swings. So can other things like the flu, infections, or lack of sleep. If the depression and anxiety is school or home related,
then may be you can find out if it is something niggling or worrying you.
Vitamin f and vitamin k2 and d3 are very good for periods, but b12 is essential, with iron supplement, too. Research has shown that coconut oil, say a teaspoon a day melted and mixed with olive oil, honey, and cider vinegar, can make a refreshing dressing for salads.
The coconut oil helps the brain function, increases memory and helps to calm you. If you eat fruit such as apples, any cholesterol can be reduced.
Am happy to chat about your diet and what you like eating - it may surprise you that deficiencies can cause mental health problems. For girls if there is an iodine deficiency,
symptoms can include tiredness, depression - your happiness is the most important, so
if you feel pressured in any way - talk it over with parents or close family. Take care.G
