I feel very overwhelmed quite a bit and find it hard to juggle things about. I cry to myself from everyday life to the news, nature programmes and social media. I don’t go to bed until 2.30 and generally up to take the dog out and go to work. My job is physical so I’m tired after but have second wind ready to start again. I would love to be able to put my PJs on and just chill but I don’t stop... so to have a tipple works to a degree.... until l have a few more .

Hello Tree-hugger,
Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. I wonder how long you have been feeling like this?
These days we are bombarded with news and other stuff from so many sources and so constantly that it can be difficult to put it all into to perspective and find the time and space to relax. I am sure other members of the community can empathize with you and share their experiences.
It might be useful to look at your sleep routine. For example it is recommended that we don't look at any screens (TV phones tablets etc) for at least an hour before we go to bed. Mindfulness is another option to look at.
Here is a link to NHS choices which has good information on both sleep and mindfulness nhs.uk/pages/home.aspx
It might also be a good idea to make an appointment with your GP and discuss what you're going through.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.
Sleep is difficult bedtime is generally 1.30 - 2.30 then up for work. I think alcohol doesn’t help as a little drink another thing l would love to cut down. Thank you for your reply much appreciated.
I once had someone tell me to take my eyes and ears elsewhere. I asked them what they meant. They said, if there is something you hear you don't like, go elsewhere, if there is something you see, divert your eyes. I said, that is easier said than done. When I say easier said than done.. social media is everywhere. Every time you look at your phone, the TV, the computer, in your face. Breaking news, an offensive twitter, some idiot made a comment that you are itching to put them in their place. It's hard to divert your eyes and ears when it's everywhere.
I find it's difficult to carve out time to relax and unwind. There's always so much to be done, house to clean, homework, bath time with kids, bedtime, dinner plans, balancing the checkbooks, paying bills, budgeting the next month's spending, and on and on. Working so hard to keep everything going and keeping everything a float. I find I am constantly searching for motivational speeches, quotes, self compassion, inspirations, just to keep my feet moving forward.
I'm not going to tell you what I think you need to do to change, I'm still struggling to figure that out as well. I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. If you're ever feeling down and don't know what to do, this is a great place to express your feelings and get great feed back and understanding. I hope that your day gets a little brighter.
