Hi muslimLAD
I have had CBT & Counselling!
Many people find CBT helpful others prefer Counselling!
It has been quite a while since I had CBT or Counselling! I found both worked for me in different parts of my life at different times in my life!
CBT is a talking therapy that helps you to manage your problems by encouraging you to look at your attitudes, thoughts (how you think) & beliefs! The way you think & behave! It is often used to help treat individuals both anxiety & depression it also teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems, basically examine hiw you think, feel & react!
Counselling is also a talking therapy but works slightly differently! The therapist listens to the client & helps the client find ways and solutions for themselves in a safe environment This can help the client in a way that helps them to feel empowered! Which can help them to take control of their lives, but doesn't tell the client what to do!
Counselling be used in different ways & there are many different various forms! Different methods work in different ways & not all methods are suitable for all individuals! If you type what are the different types of counselling It will give you they different types available & you can find one that may be you feel is right for you!
If you are being sent by your GP to either of these therapies he will be able to advise you about what he feels your needs are & what type if therapy is available on the NHS!
If you are going to a private therapist you can check what type of therapy they practice, which then you can go on the internet & checkout if it's what you're looking for!
There are also Counsellors online messaging, some on Skype & over the telephone!
It is against site guidlines for me to tell you which one is better & where you should go! I can however suggest you to talk to your GP who will be able guide you in the right direction!
Good Luck With your search! Warm Wishes spykey 🤗🤗🤗

Your Very Welcome!
If you are on benefits ask her if she has a sliding scale so you don't have to over pay, or pay over the odds!
Good Luck with your support!

Hi I anderstand that but your GP will normally have a couple of people they can refer you to if your in the uk, for free! There are also some CBT places you can try on line! A lot of people who are depressed try moodgym & some mindfulness is free not all!, as that work in different ways but are free
