Advice on my diagnoses

Hi can someone please tell me what bipolar lite is as I was diagnosed with this but never properly explained

I am no expert and hopefully you can get other replies confirming but I believe bipolar lite and bipolar soft are alternative names for bipolar 2.

This is not necessarily more, or less serious than bipolar 1 but probably means you will be able to lead a more normal life than with bipolar one as you are unlikely to have spells of mania, but will get spells of Hypomania which can be quite pleasant. Nothing comes free and you will also get spells of depression, which are very unpleasant.

As some encouragement I am 73 and have lived a pretty normal life most of which has been happy although I've had many spells of very,very unpleasant depression.

I do hope your bipolar light is the lightest of the light and that most of your days are spent in great happiness. The hypomanic spells can bring a happiness that I suspect non bipolar humans rarely experience but you'll have to fight bravely at times to overcome the depressive spells which most do.

I have not heard of bipolar lite .. I shall find out about it though.

Apparently it is another name for Cyclothymia is which is what I have got .. It's impact isn't very lite though

If you were diagnosed you should be getting meds and talk therapy. There are a couple types. Depression is a major factor frequently, the black kind where you feel like you're in a hole fighting to get out. The other aspect is a grade of mania where you have scads of energy and can't rest. You may fall somewhere in there.

Follow up and get treatment or peace will be hard to find. Nesie237

A bipolar 2 I suspect. Less severe manic episodes. Sometimes I wish I had more of these manic episodes. Insomnia hyperinsomnia can be pretty bad. Not sleeping for days on end.Depressive periods can be black as the blackest dog. Hope you are getting some proper treatment wherever it is you are based

Okay thank you I am on medication I'm on 50 mg ciltopram but I've got to see my shrink to get it all changed as it doesn't appear to be working
