Bad dream

Just had a dream my baby had another seizure. I feel sick to my stomach. I'm so afraid of her having another one because of what happened 17 days ago. I always dream about her seizures before she has one. That's why I'm freaking out. She has a benign form of epilepsy that i was told she will grow out of. This is literally so hard for me right now. I'm so scared that I don't know what to do. This feels like torture.

Hello there RyRywifey

This is really worrying for you. I totally understand from experience how scary epilepsy is and how stressful it is for you to witness. You must be on edge all the time, I'm so sorry.

Did your Doctor say it was a febrile convulsion? these are brought on by high temperature in children usually although, I am not a doctor but I do know they generally grow out of them but that's no consolation for you.

You're very welcome to come back here for support but there is an Epilepsy Community you may like to join and they have lots of information on this subject.

Very best wishes

Chloe

Hey thank you!!! It's very scary and I'm constantly watching my baby girl like a hawk and I feel so drained with fear sometimes. On Sept 1st for the 1st time she had 3 seizures in one day (that's never happened to her) and the medicine they gave her to stop it on the ambulance made her stop breathing on her own. She had to be intubated and it was the scariest day of my life. Since that day I am absolutely petrified. I've stopped ruminating about it everyday and now had this dream about another seizure, which I always have before she has one. Idk i just wish there was a cure you know, I already have panic disorder and this just shoots my anxiety thru the roof and makes me think the worst. It's Occipital Benign Epilepsy. Where is the epilepsy community???

Please try not to worry. I am 73 and have never had or known of any supernatural experiences such as dreaming of the future, although like everyone else I know people who know people who claim this has happened. Ghosts are the same,no one has seen one but every one knows someone who has seen one.

What is far more likely is that the worry of your baby's problem is causing you to dream of it ,probably quite often and once in a while you are remembering this dream and by coincidence this has happened once or twice when your baby has had a seizure.

I can believe its hard for you and feels like torture but put your faith in the medical experts who have told you she will grow out of it. They may not be perfect but their track record compared with dreaming the future claims is very, very good. So good there is no comparison.

If you can really dream the future then you are unique (although not unique in claiming it) and are destined for fame and fortune.

I do hope that your baby thrives and grows out of the problem very quickly. Children are a great joy but they almost always bring worries as well. Your baby will certainly do better if her Mum is not feeling worried out of her mind by dreams.

Thank you so much, your post has definitely eased my anxiety some. Only thing Is, my daughter is 7, and literally every seizure she has had, I've dreamt of it first. Every one I always dreamed of it before she had it and it's how I knew she was gonna have one soon. But maybe it is coincidence idk.. I'm just hoping you're right about this time just being my fears. Because I do go to sleep every night since the one she had on Sept 1st in fear of another one. So I hope you're right. Thank you so much again

Hi

Just remember you're there for her. I know when they are young it's hard not to worry about things. The main thing is you will make yourself I'll if you are constantly worrying and then you will be no good for her when she needs you. We can also pass on anxiety feelings to babies and young children and I'm sure you don't want to do that.

You know this is a thing she will probably grow out of and if you're vigilant womt be fatal. Just try to do some relaxation exercises and breathing exercises and keep calm. Enjoy your time with your baby! They grow up so fast and you don't want to ruine it by worrying over something you can't control and might not happen again.

I had a friend who's third child, a boy had fits when he was a baby, they never did find out what caused them and he stopped having them and is now a healthy young man.

I do wish you and your family well.

Take care and best wishes.

Thank you so much! Knowing that gives me hope! It's not so much the seizures I'm worried about anymore honestly, because she was not diagnosed with a severe epilepsy condition. It's the emergency medicine I'm more so afraid of because of what it did to her a couple weeks ago when administered by ems. I have given her emergency meds (wasn't the exact same as the one given by ems) the beginning of the year, it didn't harm her at all when I gave it to her. But the one ems gave made her stop breathing on her own and I didn't know what was about to happen after that and scared me more than anything I've ever felt before. So now I'm afraid to give her emergency meds if I need to in fear of her to stop breathing on her own.

Hi

That does sound worrying, but as she was ok when you gave them to her maybe they gave her a different kind?

If I was you I'd speak to the dr about your worries, maybe you could learn how do cor on a child or maybe he'll give you an oxygen mask. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Hope that she's ok and that you never have to go through it again. Just keep an eye on her temperature if she's unwell.

Take care and all the best. 😊
