Hello

Are you taking, or stopped taking any medications, or could you just have a cold or flu. There is always something that lurks around at this time of year

I take anti depressants' and I think im really run down :(

Hello

If you feel run down, give it a little time, if you have reduced your medications, and the GP has asked you to do it you may have withdrawal effects.Agree with GP the best course of action possibly go back to original dose

Discuss with GP if you do not get any better, after about one week

I think when you're depressed, everything feels worse. Chills feel like flu, tiredness feels like exhaustion. I often feel like I'm plagued with flu, when actually it's just that I'm a bit run down. You might not feel like it, but fresh air and a walk really helps x

Hello, I dont know what medication you are on but i was on venlafaxine 225mg, propranolol 40mg and mirtazapine 30mg (i just never slept!) and i stopped taking them over christmas. I didnt realise til i was off them that because i couldnt feel things properly i wasnt addressing anything to make it better for me. I had a horrible job i hated and ended up on the sick then resigning because of it. That was before i stopped taking my pills. Now i am off them i realise i was comprising myself all the time by working in something i hated with people i didnt respect, and we are all individuals so whatever we really care about is what we should surround ourselves with. I know it sounds a bit idealistic, but whatever we have been doing clearly isnt making us happy so the sensible option is to pursue our happiness (even if its a tiny thing like finishing that book or finally clearing the bathroom cabinet lol). I am 27, and am quite well academically qualified and thought industry would be the place for me, however 1 year on i am living at my dads and jobless. Strangely though, I am happier than ive been in a while. I am applying for PhDs all over the world and actually feel like i can be useful and productive in my own way, not the way im supposed to be. Im sorry for rambling, i dont know if this helps at all but i felt that my medications were having no positive impact on my mental health, and were making me quite physically ill, so I came off them. It may be an option, but only if you feel right about it. Doctors are useful but they dont know how you feel and how you want to feel in life and they can only really offer continuing support in the form of medication. We are always here, and whatever you decide we will support and understand. Your peacefulness and happiness are the priority.

I think I love my job but sometimes it's so stressful it's been very busy since before Christmas and everything has seemed to go wrong I bike to work on a push bike that went wrong it's been six weeks since last paid so everything has just got on top of me all I've done other the last 3 days is sleep plus I feel like I have flu what's best to eat and drink to try and overcome this plus another thing it's so hard being at home on your own u just feel so alone

I think its a hard one with food, there are things that are good for you and things you like eating and theyre not often the same! If you arent hungry or fussed about what you eat but feel like you should then make a little plate of snacks and just keep trying to nibble. It will help give you more energy to think if nothing else. I have had some trouble with eating and my weight so thats my method for not making food seem like a chore or something youre being forced to do. Apples or oranges are obviously good, but any fruit will help. If you dont like fruit even baked beans are good energy for you so if you could manage a bit of beans on toast that might help. I also take oregano oil capsules which seem to have a good effect on my energy levels. (i got them off the internet from a healthshop in warrington for 2.99). My sleep has never been consistent, and again that fed into worry that i wasnt normal and functional like everyone else, but i allow 8 hours a day for sleep if i need it, and i have that sleep whenever it suits me. It is important not to just sleep all the time, cos itll just make you feel worse like nothings changing. Anything that keeps you awake and a bit focussed is always good, it doesnt matter if its a game or book or anything. My way of coping is to put in my own rules about food, sleep etc and then at least i feel im in control of it.

Its really good that you like your job, cling to that knowledge and know that you are having a tough time and everything seems much tougher because you are so tired. Having no money is a bitch, i have always been skint and it makes it a lot tougher to get out and do things, eat well, treat yourself etc. If you have a little bit of cash maybe get yourself a little treat? Mine is a nice coffee from a cafe (i take it home of course lol), or making something special for dinner (like a homemade pizza). If you are interested in cooking at all i have loads of recipes and ideas i would happily share with you. Also you will get paid again so just focus on making it til then and once youve been paid hopefully the money worries will lessen and you can focus on you. Do you have friends at work? or do you feel like they arent really your type of people? If there is anyone you trust you dont need to spill your soul to them, but just maybe mentioning things are a bit tough for you will open up a sort of understanding that you can build on when you feel ready.

Try some beans on toast and a nice drink for now, it cant hurt! I really hope you feel a bit better soon mate, you can always talk to us!

I seem to tell people everything now they just seemed to be bored of me :( even I get fed up with myself just seems like the same things all the time

I think its not boredom so much as feeling bad they cant help, because in fairness all they can do is listen. I know how it feels to be bored of yourself and sick of feeling so bad but then feeling bad about all of that as well, but we both know it only makes us unhappy and less likely to get on with things. People are generally good and kind but they have their own lives too so when i feel like im being a useless whinger i try to help someone else do something...maybe one of your friends is having a tough time too and you could try and help them feel better? It is one of the main things that keeps me going, cos both you are doing something kind and pushing back the misery. Have you eaten anything yet?

hey sorry its taken a while to reply the post came and the dog went mad etc etc lol. Well you know you have to eat and your body will say when its hungry so i guess if you feel sick when you eat then its best not to force it! If you do have a decent relationship with your doctor you could speak to them, it might be stress causing it or it could be medication..or you might have the flu! My mum always says to me that if things are horrible now and you cant think of a way to feel better then just pass the time until you feel a bit brighter. It sounds ridiculous and passing the time wouldnt do anything but I found it helps me, and if sleeping makes you feel better for a little while then do it. Whatever you can manage is a step in the right direction, and again i know this seems a bit general but you are the only person who knows what makes you happy and what doesnt, so maybe if you really feel stuck for things to do you could make a list of things you enjoy, or at least used to enjoy. You dont need to do any of them but its good to remember that you can be happy and enjoy life. For me its the only thing that gets me through sometimes. Our brains are so adaptable that everything changes, and this has to as well.

I always find having a beer makes me forget how I feel and relaxes me plus I'm so stuck in a rut I don't know what makes me or used to make me happy

Those are the symptoms of stress, and first stages of ending up with a breakdown, there is only so much your body can take, in a stressful job, think about changing to something you might enjoy, and do swimming, and pamper yourself,,, your body is saying the only way it can, its had enough, and if you dont listen It will MAKE you Stop!!

relaxation tecks, and walking, head and neck massage, and see counsellor as to why you have come to this point! taking does help,,, because the tension in the neck is frustration and suppressed anger.
