I have been on fluoxitine for over a year but recently it has been less effective so my doc has increased my dose. Now i am feeking groggy and worried it is affecting my driving. I rely on driving to enable me to work and sort childcare dont want this depression to effect my familys lives more than it already has.

Hello

If you are feeling groggy behind the wheel you should not be driving. Make a urgent appointment with your GP and discuss your medications. You have a busy life , with k ids etc and need too drive. There are many alternative medications that will possibly, be suitable to you

Agree with Bob - please go see your GP

2 years ago I witnessed the aftermath of an accident - van had just gone off the road into a field. Turned out the driver was diabetic and had had an episode - he just wanted to take a sugary drink to get his sugar levels back up - but his driving had been erratic for several miles - I'm afraid I ignored his pleas and reported the accident and he probably lost his licence.

I did take fluoxetine for a while but didn't have any problems with driving - quite the opposite - managed to get over tendency to be really up tight about other people's driving which was a permanent effect. However, all drugs interact with people in different ways at different dosages.

Been to see the doctor and he decided to lower my dose as i was ok driving on the lower dose. Just worried the lower does wont be effective and i will have to change my medication that could be long winded and may not be effective, just hope if i Get counciling then the lower dose will be enough.......

Evidence tends to indicate that drugs aren't an answer in themselves and are more effective when combined with other therapies. Hope you do manage to get the counseling.

Also evidence was at one point that best chances of a full recovery involved being on drugs for at least 6 months if not a year.

Glad you went back to the GP.
