Insomnia possible due to Tamsulosin

Hi All,

I suffer from insomnia and depression and was prescribed mirtazipine a number of years ago. It was effective for the insomnia although I put-on a good bit of weight. I found this acceptable as I was sleeping again. However, I am now having issues with my prostate, my PSA levels are mildly elevated at about 9 (I'm 52) and I'm waiting on a MRI and biopsy. In the meantime my GP prescribed Tamsulosin, my insomnia is now worse than it ever was. I was wondering if there is any link? Any advice appreciated as I am going slowly mad with lack of sleep and it is impacting on every aspect of my life. I also now cannot maintain an erection, have penile adhesions which the consultant cut free a couple of months ago but which have reappeared. I'm losing the will to live.

I’d insist on discussing the tamsulosin with your consultant. I can’t give you any other advice but I wish you all the best…
