Hi, I'm new hear and really just looking for some helpful advice.

My husband is going through a bout of depression, he only told me today that he is struggling to get out of bed and generally he just feels nothing.

We went through something similar in March last year where he was having suicidal thoughts. He lost his job because of his depression and things spiralled pretty quick from there. He ended up with an alcohol addiction and gambling problems. At the moment we are nowhere near the point we was at last year but I suppose im looking for ways to support him so we don't fall that far backwards. Hes not the counselling talking type so im limited.

I also really wanted a males perspective and thoughts.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Long term he will need to put the things right that are causing his depression. If he is not likely to go for talking therapies does he have a best mate he can talk to? Short term he might benefit from a short course of sertraline to lift his mood. He really does need to talk to his doctor.

Hi, I had a few personal issues along with my health issues and in the end because of prescribed medication I was taking I didn't want to take anymore need so resorted to using Cannabis Oils for 6months. Must admit I was at a peak at the time so needed try something alternative and luckily it has massively improved things for me in both respects :)

Talking is a big benefit and having you is an extra bonus for him.

Try and encourage him to make contact with one of the support services.

Also actually getting out is a huge benefit, have him go for walks/cycle.

Things are not easy at the moment but keep up your good work and communicate.

Good luck
