I had a vasectomy in June this year. Thankfully I took plenty of bed rest and made a speedy recovery from the op. The soerm test after 8 or 12 weeks showed it was clear. I had asked the surgeon if the op could fail and my wife could get pregnant again. He said the rate of vasectomy failures is quite small. But that could happen to anyone without rhyme or reason. So how safe am I to have sex without using a condom? Please share your own experiences or any known cases.
Thank you.

Thanks mate. Appreciate the time taken out to write a reply.
It is possible for a vasectomy to fail - but the failure rate is very small. Failure can result from the cut vas tubes reconnecting. But if they have been cut, tied, cauterised this is extremely uncommon. If you’ve got the hospital all clear just get in there and enjoy!
It’s probably the safest method, did the doc remove a bit of tube? I think that reduces the risk significantly.. how’s things now?
Hi Jasonsam, your doctor is right. Chances of vasectomy failure are very less. You need to test your semen from the doctor for the first 3 months as it takes time. This is called semen analysis. You have to use other birth control methods such as condoms till the time.
You can get more information on Vasectomy and reversal from Dr. Brulotte at Vasectomy Ottawa.
