Due to cases of lichen sclerosus, phimosis and balanitis, I am looking to get a circumcision. Various private clinics in London UK offer the Shang Ring method in addition to a more conventional technique, i.e. stitches.
Does anyone have experience with it? How would you rate the outcome, recovery time, pain?
From my research, the Shang Ring method has most predominantly been used in China and parts of Africa, and is only slowly making its way to Europe and the USA.
Thank you very much for your input.

Because you've got LS you probably need to get cut low and tight to reduce to chance of it coming back.Do some research to check if I'm right and if the shang ring will do that style.
Thank you all for your replies, and @Jimbo, thanks for the reference.
I was to either go with circumcision-clinic.com in Leytonstone (they do traditional circumcision), or circumcision-london.co.uk in Wembley (they do the Shang Ring method). I will now also look into the Thornhill Centre.
I am still not convinced yet with either. I keep hearing about better results trough the Shang Ring method, but the Doctor in Leytonstone insisted it wasn't a good method for conditions like LS (keep in mind he had not inspected me at that point yet). In addition I cannot find much research about the Shang Ring beyond China/African media.
I will keep digging - in the meantime please continue sharing your experience with either method.
Hi I had the Shang ring done a week ago. Did you get it done? Today I had the ring removed but they then used stitches which has left me a bit confused about having the ring at all in the first place?
I had the shang ring done this week. Yesterday they took the ring out, and for me that it was more unpleasant than the starting procedure itself.
I would like to tell you about my experience and hopefully this will help others.
If you have problem with your foreskin you do probably need to get a circumcision.
after booking my session, the doctor told me straight away to go for the shang ring: less pain, less bledding and no stitches. he did not look very keen on the traditional method.
now, I would not say it has been painful, but definitely it is been annoying. if any of you is considering to do it, make sure you take time off work for at least the first week.
having said that, you can carry on with your normal life, ( for example, I kept going to the gym after the first day), but at a times it will get very annoying, and you do not want to hold until the end of your shift to go home. so make sure you are chilled.
the most annoying moment will be in the morning, with overnight erections.
For me it was very helpful to have in hand the cream conotrone. probably your doctor will give you one after the procedure.
any concerns o questions feel free to ask me on sergi89_fm@hotmail.com
