Day 9 post circumcision. A few small issues are worrying me.

At day 9, everything has been fairly smooth so far, without much pain, mostly just discomfort. I'm not sure of the specific type of circumcision I had, but basically there is still a fair amount of foreskin left which goes over half of the head still when flaccid.(Does anyone know if there is a name for this specific type of circumcision?) Also I am on antibiotics that my GP gave me when I went to see her, just to be safe.

Basically my main concern is that there is still a small amount of swelling, mostly on one side, and also from time to time there is a small leakage of thin, watery blood from that same side if I ever pull the remaining foreskin back slightly.

As well as this, I'm worried about how far I should be able to pull it back, and if I should be able to see the specific point where my foreskin ends? If that even makes sense? I can pull it back round to about the bottom of the head of the penis, but don't want to try any further in case it's painful or pulls stitches out (stitches that for all I know might have already dissolved). As well as this, while I've had 'morning glory' a few times, I also haven't really come close to a proper erection while awake and conscious - is this something I should worry about? Or my body just being in control and not letting it happen until the healing is further along? I've come close to a semi a few times but not made it all the way.

Basically I'm just bloody worried that something is up. I also had an inguinal-hernia repair at the same time so stress has been doubled. Sorry for the essay.

Without a picture I cannot be sure what style the doctor used, I am leaning towards high and loose. After my circumcision 5 days ago there is not enough skin to roll over my head. Right now I am swollen all around my cut line, you can click on my name to see my post were i included a photo. I did take someone else advice about wear tight underwear and having my penis pointed up to reduce swelling. My swelling reduced about 50% since then in fact I am making a trip tomorrow to purchase me a pack of briefs since I currency only own 2 and hate doing laundry.

I am certain you want the incision to be exposed to air so it dries and having it covered with skin might cause bacteria/infection since there might be moisture. I might consider gently pulling healthy shaft skin back to expose incision, then using medical tape on uninjured skin to hold it back. Check with your doctor.

As for your erections you might be fine. At day 3 post op I woke up with a stiff one and was fine, the stitches didn't break (slept naked). I did not attempt to masturbate or anything, I let it die down by singing the "Star Spangle Banner" in my head (yes this works for me). However I did get hard while wearing tight briefs and when I got home I did notice a little blood, so having something restrict an erection might not be ideal since the stretching on underwear friction and break a stitch.

Well I experienced everything you did to the letter, asked my self the same questions, I'm on my 8th day however the swelling did eventually reduce equally on all sides, and the side where I had slight bleeding seems to be the place where my first knot of the stitch dissolved, it's as though it "sunk in" a mini tunnel if you will. My erections are pretty much the same, not full on but I don't feel worried about that I'm sure when it's fully recovered it'll get back to the sixth gear

Hopefully we'll both be fine then mate! It's probably all perfectly normal. Will look in the morning but I feel like the swelling has gone down more now. Also noticed no bleeding earlier. Have you had any pain when urinating? Last couple of days I've noticed a pain at the very start of peeing, but if I stop for a second and then continue, it's fine. I think it's just pressure of my head growing when the pee first comes out. Again, probably all fine!

Well I haven't experienced any pains while urinating but we'll definitely be alright

Your healing sounds to be in order, so no need to worry. More importantly nurse along that hernia repair, being be careful to slow down in your moves and lifting.

Be grateful for soft erections, as stiff ones are the biggest complaints of the post-circumcision period.

Classifying styles is kind of a cult thing. Realistically, your surgeon left you with sufficient skin to permit comfortable erections and satisfying sex. Had you been suffering from tightness?

I had been suffering from tightness, yes. I assume that's why the surgeon hasn't removed loads of foreskin, just taking what's necessary to help.

A few days on and the watery blood stuff seems to have finished. Can now pull the foreskin back a bit more to where it reveals what I assume is the healing scarring and stitching. It all looks a bit messy, not entirely sure what's stitching and what is general grey/white looking gunky stuff because I don't want to touch it incase I damage anything. Does this sound normal to you? Again it's causing me no pain, just slight discomfort, so I assume it's ok.

I’m having the exact same experience here, I’m day 10 post op. What did you do in the end, did you let it heal normally or did you pull it back and do salt water baths?

When where you able to pull the skin back over the incision line/stitches?

And how long did it take the stitches to dissolve/disappear?

Hi Stephen, to be honest I can’t remember exactly how long it took til I could pull it back all the way, maybe a couple of weeks to three weeks? But I’d recommend not stressing about it (easier said than done, I know). Just keep washing it in the shower each day (I took a shower twice a day, filled a jug while in the shower and poured it over the head a few times), keep it clean and just let the body do it’s work. It’ll be fine. I’d say overall maybe a month for the stitches to go - it was a gradual thing. Unless anything starts hurting, you’re in the clear! If you have any more questions then feel free

That’s good to hear! I was stressing a bit because basically everyone here seems to have got a different ‘styled’ cut. So not being able to see my stitches like other people was bothering me a wee bit. But that’s made me feel relieved lol

Can I ask, are you happy with the outcome/style?

Do you know when your erections stopped hurting? I’m finding that after I get one, I’ve a very slight watery blood discharge around the frenulum but i think once I’m over that I can be patient and wait for stitches to heal etc

And yeah I’m making sure to keep well clean with showering and salt water baths!

No worries! And yes mate, more than happy with it! I was particularly worried before hand that it’d be a mess to look at once healed, but it looks absolutely fine, in fact I’d say it looks better now than before haha! I’ve had 0 issues since it all healed.

In terms of erection pain, id say maybe a week? Maybe week and a half? I had the same thing with the watery blood - nothing to worry about. As long as you clean it up after a while it should be fine I’d imagine.

Usually there is a yellow fluid coming from the wound. If it’s not painful, it should be fine. You could do some warm salt water soaksz
