ADULT CIRCUMCISON RECOVERY DIARY (DAY 1-3) PHIMOSIS

Hi, so I'm 18 and had servre phimosis, Tried stretching techniques but nothing gave any long term success. Therefore I decided circumcision was the only option is really had. Meant to have it done last summer but spooked myself out and ended up cancelling. Fast forward to March 8th 2018 and I went under the knife. The face it's a routine surgery didn't stop me panicking in the weeks and minutes leading up. Thought I'd do a daily updated with my progress on here so not only i can keep track but can maybe get some advice about things and possibly help others who are going through or may in the future circumcision.

Day of the operation (DAY 1)

Why I was worried about the operation more than the recovery I'll never know. Operation was find, i faint all the time and even the needle was okay. Due to having general I can't remember anything about the op. Woke up with quite a bit of pain and was given some painkillers. Couldn't move much in the bed and mentally scared myself about peeing. Eventually when I did it didn't hurt at all a case of mind over matter. That said I fainted trying to get back to bed and had to be given oxygen but that's typical me so don't worry about that. Was discharged late on the day and went home and slept.

Night 1 wasn't great the gauze was rubbing and causing pain. I only took paracetamol as I'm paranoid about painkillers making me sick. Got through the night although woke up multiple times.

Day 2 I had to take the gauze off! (quick side note) I haven't wore clothes since op just a dressing gown which I hold so it doesn't touch anywhere as it's so sensitive. Taking the gauze off was an absolute nightmare. Poured lukewarm water over it but it really was difficult and took me ages. Oh yeah fainted again after.

Night 2; I'm sleeping with my feet up to stop the cover touching anywhere which hurts your legs. The night time erections are painful (try not drinking to close to sleep and emptying bladder before sleeping)! The night was awful so damn painful in one moment I woke up with my HAND on the head of the penis quote possibly the worst pain ever.

Day 3 was a disaster was in so much pain couldn't eat or drink or get out of bed. And to make things worse it seems I didn't take the gauze off at least not all of it so not its half hanging on bloody catching everytime. The pain today was awful but in the evening after taking paracetamol which I advise taking all week. I somehow managed to get the thing off... oh and fainted after but that's standard. I just let it air and dry naturally for a few hours that evening before going to bed.

Night 3; not as bad as night 2 but I'm still sleeping and living with just a dressing gown on. On my back legs up. Couple or uncomfortable moments in the night with erections etc. But not to bad.

Swelling morning of day 3 is quite extensive and where my fredulum is it looks and feels super sensitive and raw. It's the part I'm worried about.

Main issue is the sensitivity and having to wear no clothes just dressing gowns all the time meaning of cant venture out my room easily.

Anyone sorry for the long post. Any advice would be great will do a new post everyday and it shouldn't be nearly as long. If your going through this don't give up and no there's light at the end of the tunnel well that's what I'm trying to tell myself.

Same experience (without the faintings) but I can only advise not to worry too much. Hope you have some day off and got time scroll down, there are some good advice from people contributing in this forum. It is a long process. First 2 weeks keep it clean, tidy and not too much activities and antibiotics. If you’re in UK worth making appointment with your practicing nurse to look at the stitches, advice, etc, in my GP the nurse helped me to do the ‘deep cleansing’ they’ve been extremely helpful. My problem was my wound healed very very slowly ( I’m not diabetic or haemophilic but that’s just the way it is) and for the swelling and sensitivity, be patience, for some, back to normal quickly but for some I heard can take much longer. Good luck
