Its been a week since the 'chop' and everything is going well, the healing is more comfortable though im concerned over something im not sure is normal.
I used vaseline constantly for 4/5 days and then read that most dont do this, ive been lucky enough to stay at home for 7 days so i was able to wash regularly with saltwater and then let it air and then apply vaseline though once i stopped applying vaseline ive noticed the incision more and it appears as a sort of dull yellow colour and a faint odour comes from the back of the glan, or underside where the frenulum was as its a war zone of scab/sutures/wet goo. The odour does smell like an infection though my Doc advised over the phone its okay, not sure to take him at his word having not seen it, its not very pussy, when i wash and pat it dry it smells a small but is this normal to have an odour coming from it, i really noticed it when the vaseline wasnt there and its in the air more. Any advice guys?

is it unusually red, painful and are you having a fever? if not, it is unlikely an infection. a yellowish liquid is normal, many times mistaken for an infection, and is part of the healing, so unless you have those accompanying symptoms you are fine.
As for the vaseline - it is only applied when you have to walk around in underwear and you use a gauze to lessen the sensitivity pain and prevent your glans from sticking to your underwear. If you are home and walking around naked, there is no point in applying vaseline to it.
No fever, quite raw. I decided late last night to go to the doctor, she was concerned over the underside of the stitches so im on a course of antibiotics as an infection is present, her word was raw. Anywho, week of augmentin and then back to hopefully have stitches removed in a week if they are still there. I was advised to take a bath for twenty minutes in dettol, no pain or stinging but ive alot more goo from the stitches now. Will keep this up and report back!
GP, not overly comfortable sharing but if you could see its pretty nasty. In fact I lightly cleaned the underside 15 min ago and its odour and weeping has returned as if i hadnt touched it.
Well the antibiotics were or what I thought were killing the infection. The odour disappeared and the swelling reduced. Unfortunately the results of a swab pointed to what is potentially an ecoli infection. Now ecoli can be present in this region naturally though where my frenulum appears quite red and gunky. I'm now on a different antibiotic which should calm it down in a few days.
On the upside the overall swelling is reduced and the night erections are painless. I get a good night's sleep for the last 5 days( on day 13 now).
One stitch came out at frenulum but no big issues with it or others.
My mind was the hardest thing to overcome and in hindsight the first week was traumatic for me. Thanks to everyone here I remembered it will get better and to remain positive.
