Lumps & bumps around circumcision scar

I got circumcised 3 months ago. The wound took much longer to heal than expected, but it's going ok and I'm massaging daily with Bio Oil. There are some lumps and bumps around the scar that bother me and pinching/tightness on the left side when erect. I've spoken to my surgeon and he said it looks fine (his bias and standard response to any concern), and he said the nodulation (his term) and tightness should resolve in 6-12 months. I know patience may be rewarded, but it is causing me distress and anxiety. A good cosmetic outcome is important for me. Has anyone else had this issue and experienced the lumps and bumps resolving without additional surgery or laser treatment for scars?

My scrotum was also tight and pulled up the shaft (the right ball was moving up into my groin multiple times throughout the day, uncomfortable and annoying). So I started ball stretching at week 8, which has made a significant difference. Balls are now hanging similar to how they were before the surgery. I started with a 1-inch silicone stretcher and moved to 2 inches after a few weeks - using Rosehip Oil to promote skin elasticity. I'm still stretching daily (the stretcher sits around my balls while I'm chilling out at home or watching TV) until I'm happy with the hang/outcome. If I'm honest, the stretching has been quite pleasurable!

Any advice on the lumps and bumps around the scar would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I’m exactly the same, think I’m just over 2 month post op. Left side more swollen and the bumps. Sometimes I wake up and it’s more swollen on the left side and there is days where the swelling has gone down. But day to day it changes for me either more or less swollen. My doctor gave me a cream that I have been using the last couple weeks but hasn’t really helped. I thought after 6 weeks everything would be normal but I’m still getting discomfort, each day is different. I think it is just a case of the waiting game and it will all get better with time

In my experience, it's taken nearly 3 months to settle, and some days do look better than others. My surgeon said it would heal in 6-8 weeks, which I now realise is completely unrealistic. I know how mailable skin is and believe the tightness will soften overtime, so I agree exercising patience as the skin adapts and softens will help. I'm still concerned about the bumps/ridges around the scar. Has your surgeon said anything about the bumps and if they will resolve? I'm contemplating a revision to address this or laser treatment for scars.

I am over 3 months out, and I still have a ways to go to be 100%. I did have a nasty infection two week post that required a 4 day hospital stay and set me back. The surgeon was honest and says this will be a 9 month recovery. The area is very vascular is why it takes months to recover. He told me to keep applying Vaseline to the area. The incision is still slightly swollen and tender. If I sit still or lay down, it seems normal, but movement is uncomfortable. I also have lost feeling from the corona forward. Bottom line, I had to have the surgery and waited too long which gave me complications. I wish you well.

I'm giving it 6-12 months for a full recover, which has eased some of my anxiety about the healing process. The swelling seems to change daily, but there is progress. Good luck!

I had my circumsicion 5 nearly 6 weeks ago and I also have bumps around the cut wound I went to doctor about it and they said it looks like keloid scaring so will be there forever unfortunately

My bumps have definitely reduced since week 6. I'm at week 16 now. My surgeon refers to the bumps as nodulation, not a keloid scar, and has suggested this should resolve in 6-12 months. I'm meeting with cosmetic surgeon this week who specialises in scar removal and laser treatments. I'm thinking it wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion and see what solutions are available. I hope this helps you in some way.

Hey how are you doing so far and what did your cosmetic surgeon say?

I’m on week 5 now and seems incision is mostly healed if not all. I to have a bumpy scar line with nodules.

The surgeon advised to wait 6-12 month before looking at scar revision. The nodulation has had a slight reduction since I posted. I'm going to wait another 3 months before deciding what to do. I met with a cosmetic surgeon who seems confident he can shave the nodules and I'm meeting with him again in February for a review. Are you using anything to treat/reduce the nodules?

“Different area” but I had my Appendix taken out a while back and this took a year to become smooth.

I’m using bio oil only just started will see how it goes. Hopefully will see some smoothing out. Looks like this will be a time thing .
