Lump under penis head after circumcision

Hi all. I did a circumcision operation 4 months ago due to phimosis. The wound has healed but now there is this lump that is like a swimming floating ring at the shaft just below the penis head, above where the incision is.

Initially I thought it is a swell. But I went for my medical review this week and the doctor says this is just how it is, and it will be like that. I'm not sure if this is something that I need to be concern about, as the lump can cause some discomfort and pain when rubbing, masturbating and having sex, due to the up and down pulling of that lump. Of course there is still some sensitivity around that area at the moment. I'm wondering if this discomfort and slight pain will go away and I can have sex without any discomfort overtime, or is it not normal for this ring to be there after surgery.

Not a artery sutured off?

It is not. Its more like extra skin folded out which looks like those swimming floating ring. When erect or if I pull the skin of the shaft down, it becomes straight with no ring. Not sure if you get the picture.

i think so i know I was told it can take up to 6 months to achieve final result. ..so skin still covering gland a bit? .. perhaps it will just take that bit longer.

The lump/skin folded out is just below the glan and above the incision line where the stitches were previously. The best way I can describe the lump is that it looks like the Michelin tyre mascot. I'm considering seeking a second opinion as my doctor didn't seem to be bothered when I raised it and simply brushed off my concern.

ahhh understand now.. hmmm 🤔. I’m early days 3rd week but nothing like that as yet. Just swelling still I think.. I had a small lump top but gp said was artery sutured and will settle. Not the easiest of things this huh .. im hoping settles still .

Hey Mirroronthewall,

im considering a circumcision for the same reason but i cant understand my stage of phimosis and feel like my doctor has also brushed off my concern. Weird question but like could you fit any fingers under the foreskin to stretch? or was it more severe phimosis?

Mine was more of a severe case, where I could not fit the entire finger in. The opening was probably only about the size of a t shirt button

Thanks for the info mate. Hope everything goes well with your case man hopefully its just the skin needs a while to recover after the time of being covered

No worries. I'm just worried it was not done properly where there is excess skin left hence causing that lump, which looks to be the case. Hoping someone will be able to share some insights.

is it your corona ring glan the round part at base of glans, mine is gone dark purple now, and swollen a tiny bit, I’m 7 weeks post op now, went to doctor the other day not the surgeon, he said that’s the colour it will be now, told me to put Vaseline on it with a gauze for 7/10 days, I’m not happy with that as the Vaseline makes a mess of penis and the gauze leaves red dots on glans now, the soreness and sensitivity has not reduced one bit in 7 weeks, my meatitis is also red and inflamed, having problems with both ends of penis, just want this nightmare to end, I wear tight underwear it squashs my tip end, I wear loose underwear my corona bangs against the underwear it’s agony, I’m 40 years old was told I had phiomios, i also had never seen or pulled my foreskin back in my life🤷‍♂️

Hi it sounds like you have some swelling there still, for some guys this can take 6 months to a year before everything settles down. Did you have a high cut or low cut? this can make a difference with swelling.

Thanks for your reply. I had a low cut. I do see a bit of swell on the underside. At other areas though, it looks more like a folding out of the inner skin, hence when erect or when I pull down the skin of the shaft it does not have that beach float effect. I have made an appointment with another urologist to seek a second opinion this Saturday. Really hope it is a swell, at least it means things will get better rather than a complication of the procedure.

OK low as in close to the glans the way you describe it sounds like you have a medium to high cut maybe? Definitely sounds like you have a loose cut with the skin bunching up behind the glans when flaccid? That would be normal for some cut guys depending on the circumcision some guys are growers and need the extra skin when erect. See how it goes with the urologist on Saturday hopefully he will throw some light on it.

Yup it is close to the glans. And the skin that is bunching out and slightly up is the inner skin whereas the outer skin is flush with the shaft. It isn't loose to the extent of covering the glans. Just a bulge around the area just below the glan. The pain comes from the pulling up and down of this extra skin when rubbing against something. But yeah hopefully I get more info during my visit to the other urologist.

Right so it's probably just some swelling you have that can take a long time to go down and I think your not circumcised that long. The bunching behind the glans when flaccid is normal on less it's really tight. I would have it myself when soft. See what happens at your appointment 😊

Hi! Im having the exact same issue, 4 month post surgery and I have a the float lump around. I wanted to know if yours disappeared or at least improved over time.

My swell has disappeared except for the bottom right side where there is deep scaring lumps. There is one particular tiny spot where it is highly sensitive and I'm suspecting that there may be a stitch or something imbedded in it. I will need to check with the doctor in my next yearly review. But other than that it's fine.
