Bad scar after circumcision?

Hello everyone. help! Two months ago I had a total circumcision operation. I am concerned about scarring, as I don't see improvement over the days. The scar is hard and not very elastic. I have no game to raise and lower the skin. In short, it is not floppy. I leave you a photo so you can see how it looks in erection. In erection the scar area is very narrow and it hurts me, it pulls me a lot ... How do you see the scar? Is it normal for it to be so hard and thick after two months? What`s the problem? I am afraid that a keloid will form ... Any recommendation to improve the scar? thank you!!

Did you have medical reason for that low scar line? I can't see any keloids there. Bumpy line is due to sutures. They will flatten when time goes by.

It took me almost three months scar line to soften. Have you used any moisturizer? I suggest you to rub some coconut oil, fragrance free emollient cream with ceramides or inexpensive Baby-Oil works as well as more expensive Bio-Oil to scar line 2 times a day.

Silicone scar sheet won't fit to you, cause of the scar location.

I was circumcised due to a balanitis. They told me that I should always carry the glans in the air. I put on rosehip oil every night. It is right? Do you think that over time my scar will stop hurting me even though they made me a very low style? the scar inside is very hard at the moment, as if it had a rope inside it. Thank you very much.

There is nothing you can do more about it now. Some has described tight scar line is like a "rubber band". Wait couple of months more. Like I wrote it will loosen. Location of the scar is not the case.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to S2BC

Yes, that's the feeling. In my case it is quite painful ... the location of the scar should not be a problem over time? Do you think that when the scar improves I will not have problems with erections? I have the feeling that they have left me too much tight . Thanks a lot!!!

in reply to Hithere46

Keep using the treatment suggested by S2BC And see how it goes. There is no guarantee with any surgery. You can always consult with your doctor or a urologist if things get no better.

I did the surgery last week, and I also feed they cut too much and made stitches too tight. Now all blood vessels inside are blocked. When I stand, I feed a lot of pressure around the stitches circle.

xhardwarex in reply to Hithere46

I had something similar to what you describe (the rope inside) - it just took time. I think for me it was something like 3 months or so for it to really resolve. Lots of folks here seem to have had good luck with bio-oil - I've also heard Vitamin E cream can help soften up scars.

Hithere46 in reply to xhardwarex

Thanks for the tips, I will take them into account. Do you also have a low and tense style? It looks like my circumcision (look at the photo I have uploaded)? I see it so bad and I do not know if it is going tu recover. In erection hurts me...

xhardwarex profile image
xhardwarex in reply to Hithere46

Mine is much higher - about 3cm of inner skin, but I had the same rope feeling for a while.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to xhardwarex

Do you think that if the scar recovers well I will not have problems with future erections? I don't really know what the main problem is in my operation: the scar, the low style, the tense style, a bit of everything ... I just know that at the moment it is a complete disaster.

xhardwarex profile image
xhardwarex in reply to Hithere46

I have no problems now - it really did take me about 3 months to normalize however.

Did they talk to you about styles and why they cut you so low? Yours look similar to mine. Mine has flattened out but not completely.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to CuriousQ

They didn't tell me anything, in fact I didn't even know that there were different types of circumcision. They operated on me because of a balanitis I had. They gave me this solution. How long have you been operated on? does it hurt you in erection? do you think I will improve over time? Thank you!

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply to Hithere46

You should go back and complain that they didn't tell you about different styles like low vs high cut. It's unfortunately very common that doctor's don't do this even if you're the one who needs to live with the outcome. It will probably improve over time but no one can now how much. Before surgery what did you try? I'm soon 6 months in.

How's sensitivity for you? Sex?

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to CuriousQ

I have already spoken twice since the operation with the urologist, and his answer is always the same: with time it will improve. He told me that he always opts for that style (he is a highly prestigious urologist in my area, so from the beginning I have trusted him). It is my 9 th week and I have not yet tried to do anything, not even with my girlfriend, the scar still throws and it hurts ... next week I have an appointment with the urologist to. As for sensitivity, I can not tell you anything at the moment because I have not yet tried to do anything, I am afraid that the scar will worsen. With erections, my glans dries out, did that happen to you? Thanks!

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply to Hithere46

Did he say why he chooses that style? Many guys complain that a low and tight removes most sensation during sex and I can only agree. High and tight seem much better in this regard.

Yes glans dries out because it's always outside and there's no more snegla producing glands there to lubricate.

Hithere46 in reply to CuriousQ

On Tuesday I will ask him in person. Nowadays, what problems do you have with the circumcision they made you (erections, sensitivity, the scar etc.)? Is there any posibility to avoid them?

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply to Hithere46

They removed too much skin. Partially removed my frenelum so it's completely dead. Can't feel much having sex. Looks bad. Hair on shaft. Scrotum pulling forward. Itches when I wear pants.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to CuriousQ

When I have sex I will tell you how it was. I imagine that yours will also be a matter of time. I have read in some forum that some took even a year to recover.....We will have to be patient.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to CuriousQ

I've been reading your posts. I think we have a very similar cut, in fact I would say that mine is even lower and tighter... However, in my circumcision they did not remove the entire frenulum, I had already removed it since I was younger, they removed it with laser when I was 15 years old. In this circumcision the cut has been in all the circumference below the glans but they did not go lower, since I no longer had a frenulum. Therefore they did not give me points in that area either. You can see in my photo that the scar is only on the circumference. I have seen the appearance of your penis and the truth that it does not look bad. I hope you get better.

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply to Hithere46

Thank you and good luck to you. I could live with the appearance if the sensitivity was better. But we'll see.

in reply to CuriousQ

Style wasn’t the issue here and what would going back to complain actually achieve, nothing can be changed?

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply to

To inform doctors, basically.

in reply to CuriousQ

Once again, style isn’t his issue

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ

I don't know as I can't compare it to a high and tight. All I know is I've heard of people going from high and tight to low and tight and they said that they lost a lot of sensation. And it seems to be true if you look at guys who have a low cut, most complain about losing at least 50 percent.

But man you keep asking the same questions. Just stop, go talk to Dr. Khan and do what you want. No one can answer your questions, really.

in reply to CuriousQ

Thats what im planning on doing talking to doctor khan

As you can see the photo I have uploaded, I think I have not finished healing yet. It's been 9 weeks and I still can't give you a final verdict. If it stays that way, I certainly don't recommend the low cut.

Penis is healing very well.!!!

Bare in mind healing does take awhile.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to

For real? The truth is that I have not seen many cases like mine, so tight and so close to the glans ... I am afraid that the scar will not take the necessary elasticity to adapt to the penis.

But I hope you end up being right.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46

The question for me today is another: if the cut were higher, would the scar be just as taut and painful? until it is 100% recovered, I will not know if a low cut is a good option.

in reply to Hithere46

Which way do you mean "low" by,_

To the glans or to the base.??

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to

Low style I mean that the scar is located close / very close to the glans, both in erection and sagging. Because of the experience I'm having these two months ago, I would have asked for a higher cut. But I will see how progresses it.

Hi there, it does look quite tight but it is still only been 2 months your scar has quite a bit of healing and stretching to do still. I would try some oil something like Bio-Oil would be good massaging just a little in twice every day. your skin should stretch and feel more comfortable in time.

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to MrMac99

Thank you! Yes, I will do that. I hope that it gets better with the passage of time and does not ruin my sex life.

My circumcision looks very similar to yours, i.e. low and tight ... check out the photo in my post. I'm a few weeks behind you, though (currently at 5 weeks) and my erections also still feel tight, but not painful. I'd say give it some time, as we all heal at different rates, but don't worry about it ... I'm sure the scar area will settle in time, that's what I'm hoping for.

Are you using bio oil/tissue oil, or something similar, to soften the scar?

Do you still have any swelling?

Best of luck, man!!!

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to

Hello! I have already seen the photo of your post, I do not know if we have similar circumcisions, because the photo you have is very recent since the operation.

I give rosehip oil (recommended by my doctor) in the morning and at night, with small massages on the scar.

One side is still swollen, but what really bothers me at the moment is the scar, which is as if it were a hard cord that remains below the glans with no elasticity (especially in erection), as you can see in the top photo .

In flaccid state I have noticed some improvement, but in erection things continue to be complicated.

I would like you to comment on how is going your recovery, and if you can give me any advice. I wish you good luck, you will see how it will go great.

in reply to Hithere46

Yes ... I see that your scar still appears to be very tight and bumpy, presumably from the stitches. My scar appears to be similar, although maybe not as tight and bumpy. As I mentioned previously, my erections still feel tight, but are not painful. How many stitches did you have? I had around 15 stitches.

I'm no expert, but I would say continue with your doctor's recommendations, i.e. using rose hip oil on your scar. I was advised by my doctor to only start using bio oil/tissue oil after the initial recovery period, but I'm not at that point yet.

Our circumcision scars will not heal overnight, but I do believe that over time and by using the right oils, they will diminish significantly and the tightness will ease ... we just have to be patient.

All the best, man!!! 👍

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to

Yes, about 15-17 stitches. I think that the important is not having pain. The truth is that I do not care if the style is high, low, loose or tigh, as long as it does not hurt and I can enjoy sex.

Yesterday I went to the doctor, and he told me that I have fibrosis. He told me that over time the scar would adapt and that the hard cord would disappear. I really have my doubts ... but I hope he is right and it is a matter of time like he said, because it has no solution.

The doctor told me that he made me a tigh style, but that the end result should not be so tense, it seems that it still needs to get more elasticity. Damn balanitis that is making me go through this ...

One question, do you know which is better, rosehip oil or Bio Oil?

in reply to Hithere46

To be honest, I do not know which oil is better. If your doctor advised you to use rose hip oil, then I would stick with that. I have no experience with rose hip oil, so I really cannot comment.

We have bio oil at home, so I will be using that. I also have a eucalyptus-based tissue oil cream at home, which I'm thinking of using ... it says that this cream is also good for scarring!!! I'm a swimmer and last year I developed a bit of athletes foot ... this cream was excellent in that the athletes foot completely disappeared within a week, or two after application.

By the way, I think your penis and circumcision looks great ... something to be proud of!!! 👍

Hithere46 profile image
Hithere46 in reply to

Really? I don't see it at all well. When it is flaccid it does not look bad, in fact I can move the scar up and down without any problem. The problem I have with erections, the cord that the scar has inside strangles my penis and does not give me any mobility, it stays just below the glans and I cannot pull lower. It happens to you? It will be 2.5 months soon and I am scared, I am afraid it will stay like this ...

in reply to Hithere46

Do not be scared ... like myself, it is still early days for you in treating your scar line with rose hip oil, or bio oil. Check out my latest post and you will see that I have also been circumcised low and tight. I am not the least bit concerned about the scar at the moment and neither should you be. I have started using a combination of bio oil and tissue oil (which contains rose hip oil 👍), so I'm hoping to see better results in a few months time. Rose hip oil also helps with skin elasticity, so I'm sure it'll help with the tight cord around your glans ... just give it some time to work its magic. 😉

When flaccid, I do have some skin movement, but when erect, I have very little movement. As a result thereof, I have been using lube when masturbating, which helps a lot. 👌

All the best, man!!!

FFS when having a circumcision for valid medical reasons you usually do not get a choice regarding style. If you elect to have it done for cosmetic or preference reasons then you’d go private and have the opportunity to discuss this fully.

Asking guys who’ve had medical circumcision why they didn’t go for a different style isn’t helpful and can cast doubts in their minds. Frankly it’s a pretty dumb (or perhaps even spiteful) thing to do.

CuriousQ profile image
CuriousQ in reply to

Doctors should inform the patient. They have a vague idea about high vs low but don't really discuss it. Every country has a different standard procedure. Bottom line is surgeons don't know much about what happens after surgery or how styles might affect sensitivity and one's sex life. They only know how to perform the surgery and many of them hardly know even that.

S2BC profile image
S2BC

Sure, but medical school courses in Europe will tell them just scalpel & sutures method. Nothing more. How they supposed to do something else in NHS then? There is no high, tight, loose, low etc. in medical vocabulary. They are just preference of the patient in cosmetic surgery and define by person.

in reply to S2BC

Yes, exactly that

I got bumpy line from sutures as well and that was since August last year.

Recently by end of June this year, then I went to another hospital and decided to remove the bumpy line and now it's gone. I have photos comparision if you need.

What did they do? Laser? Peeling? Before, do you use some products (bio oil, coco oil, rosehill oil, silicon)? I'd like to know if they serve or is better a drastic solution like laser over the scarline.

Hey! How does it look today? I'm on my day 7 and I think o got same cut as yours. My scar line is super close to the glans. When flaccid it will covers part of the gland and when erected I feel strangulation on the glans. I know my glans are still swollen but did you experience the same issue in your first weeks? I'm wondering if I will have same result as yours.

Any updates? I think this happened because your doctor sutured you too tightly or used to many sutures. You could go to your doctor and see if there's anything they could do.
