How long should I take antibiotics after zsr circumcision?

How long should I continue to take antibiotics after ZSR circumcision. I am day 10 and still taking antibiotics. The wound area looks good. Slight amount of redness as seen around the ring. My doctor says it is safer to take antibiotics till the incision is completely dried. Antibiotics will prevent any infection. I look for advice from fellow colleagues. How long did you take antibiotics after your zsr surgery?? Is it safe to take antibiotics for 15 days straight. Thanks.

That is a very long course of antibiotics!! There is a big issue around inappropriate antibiotic prescribing unless you are at an increased risk of infection due to something like a compromised immune system

Oh! I am not sure. My doctor told me to continue antibiotics. How long had you taken antibiotics after zsr surgery?

Pardon me, I saw now that you are the moderator. Anyway, should I consult my urologist again and ask him if I am really required to continue antibiotics that long?

That might be a sensible thing to do. Normally a course of antibiotics would be 5 to 10 days - depending on the severity of the infection it is battling and the particular antibiotic. Most guys use a topical antibiotic or salt baths to inhibit infection.
