Contemplating 2nd surgery

So, my circ was over 9 weeks ago at this point, I sent some photos to my Dr. as I am concerned that the swelling is still very pronounced, specially on the underside around my frenulum (we kept it), now my Dr. says it might be a good idea to go under the knife again to get rid of the inflammation, I’m a bit leery of doing it again, plus they most likely would have to remove more inner foreskin, on the other hand I hate having that much swelling, it is uncomfortable at times, sex is no issue, but oral sex and masturbation do pose some challenges.

Should I have a 2nd surgery? Or should I see if it will go down any further on its own?

Actually there have been many forum members with the same problem and some of them have had improvement by the end of a year or so . If you really cannot wait that long or your doc suggests you to go under the knife , it would be wise to follow them . Alternatively get a second opinion before any further ops as generally from what I know , a 6 month gap is usually given to the site before reoperating on it .

As Velcro93 says, we have had guys who are still going through the healing process at a year! 9 week seems very early to operate on swelling. Any guarantees that the new op, like the original, would not also produce swelling?

That is my fear, my Dr. is positive they can help, but I also think it’s too soon and I’m feeling anxious.

Sorry to hear.

It's way too early to say how the swelling will settle down in next 6 months or so. What I've seen and heard if the incision line is near the glans there is no space swelling to grow cause the penis head itself won't stretch similar way than thin former inner skin.

Male circumcision could be the only operation where the whole lymphatic system were damaged without removing lymph nodes. Swelling on this condition should be heal by itself after recovery period. It's different case if there is oddish additional skin left.

We can not tell you here what is right or wrong. We all heal different pace. I hope your doctor is well educated and know what is doing (again). If I was you, I'll wait like 6 months at least before would go another operation.

You wrote inflammation around frenulum area? Swelling is not inflammation normally. Fluid can not just pass/flow back to your groins (to lymph nodes) easily through incision line.

My surgeon had done hundreds of circumcision.he said he know what kind of swelling heals and what kind of inflammation don't heal.he said if I want I can wait.but result will be the same.

Please can you tell me . I am on my 5th day of Circumcision and there is swelling on the left side and at the down side of a penis there is a liquid lump also... I told to my dr and he said it is a reaction of our body. But I am doubtful that maybe it is a gel or urine drops which are passing through the holes of stitches under the skin of penis at the down side. Please tell me

I’m still very much on the fence on this one, I’m going to seek a second opinion.

What was the method of your surgery? Was it conventional one or stappler?

Conventional

I got mine circumcised again after a week because there was extra skin for me instead of swelling. I followed the doctor’s order of re-circumcising. The re-circumcision wasn’t that bad considering it was just removing extra skin - the inner part of the wound was already fully healed.

I say wait on it for 6 months. It's only after week 12 did the inner foreskin swelling start going down for me.

I was hoping I would have a miracle recovery which would take only 4-8 weeks. For me, it may take 6-12 months because I am diabetic and on blood thinners (heart disease).

I think after week 12, you'll see the swelling start to go down. It's only after week 16 I could masterbate like how I use to before the suregery, but it is still feeling sensitive when grazing against my underwear. I wrap up the glans in gauze.

Curious to know more about the 'scarf' you talk of. I feel I have the exact same issue, like a pink band of flesh running around the base of the gland. It more sensitive than the gland itself and a little unsightly, I wasn't expecting it but like others on here the options were not discussed before surgery.

Have you decided to go with a follow up surgery?
