Post run headaches

Hello, how is everyone? Does anyone has experience of these post run headaches? I have a good drink before I go and when I get back and am generally good at drinking water all the time. Why do I get a headache so often after long runs?

I don't actually know, and don't have any medical wisdom to back me up here ... I do sometimes have postrun migraines though!

But some things to consider perhaps - is it just water you'rehaving during your run? Might it be worth trying some electrolyte and carb containing powder/tablet additive such as Tailwind, SIS, Hydro etc. Are you in meed of a carb boost during your long runs? Are you tensing your neck/shoulders as you run? Is bright sunlight affecting you? Do you eat and drink straight after your run - even a recovery shake or chocolate milk or banana and a cup of tea?

As I say, no medical wisdom just a few suggestions. I hope you get to the bottom of it though as that sounds miserable 🀞

I do. I think eating helps, but to a certain extent I'm stuck with it!

It cd be sun in your eyes?

Wind is extremely dehydrating too so you might drink more in those circs πŸ™‚

I do experience headache sometimes, mostly after long run (like today). I feel it's due to heat or bit dehydration (not always). May be more to do with the refueling (food), I normally run empty stomach (except water). Today even after 7 hour I have bit headache, because I didn't took rest (after shower, I was watching movies). Black coffee did help for couple of hours, but I think a good sleep will help.

Me too...sometimes! Especially if it's very warm, so I feel like it may be hydration- related. Today it was cooler, I know I have been drinking lots...no headache at all!πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

On days when it warm and running I sweat lots. So when I return home , apart from even more water I also take 2 electrolyte tablets. I wonder if you would benefit from something like this😊

Thank you all for the advice, I will try the electrolyte tablets and glad that it's not just me but not glad you are getting headaches. My husband did helpfully suggest it could be my brain rattling around in my head so there's always that idea! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Š

Same here, esp when it’s hot. Last summer I used electrolyte tablets but I’ve found more success with a post-run banana milkshake (just banana and milk) plus it tastes better!
