This morning I set off to run my 6th ten miles run, I felt good after the ten miles ran in a little over two hours so I set a time limit of 2 hours 45 minutes to see how far I would get, I had no intention of running a half marathon, anyway at 2 hours 45 minutes I stopped running and according to Mapmyrun got to 20.59 kilometers, not too far off HM distance, I was cheered on by two people who recognise me running on a Wednesday morning, all in all a reasonable run for me today.
Almorr longest run ever : This morning... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Almorr longest run ever
So close! Well done. π
Many congratulations Alan πWhat a brilliant achievement for so many reasons. I loved reading this. I hope you celebrate in some way too. Al Morr breaking even more barriers π₯π₯π₯
Great run Al , Very well done ππ
Thank you Ian, I enjoyed my longest ever run this morning ππΎ π
PS I took a screenshot of the run, however, when I posted a screenshot before there was a place which said ". add photo" that's no longer there, it used to say add photo at "more" on the top right side of the screen, I tapped 'more' but the option to add photos isn't there now.
Fantastic Al! Very well done π ππ
I would say that's much more than a reasonable run. I would say that's a brilliant run and what an amazing achievement π
I hope you celebrate and treat yourself to something nice.
Thanks Birdlady64, my legs were starting to feel sore, I didn't want aching legs, I have to walk Holly the dog this afternoon and I have my Thursday morning walking group tomorrow so it was better to stop when I did. π
Wise choice! They reckon thereβs no benefit in running more than 3 hours in training . That is according to AudioFuel The Second Hour podcaster π
Well done on nailing the long run. Sometimes you just feel good to continue further than planned, and if the weatherβs good then why not πππͺ
Eat, sleep well and you should be fine for your dog walk and walking group. A post run 25 minute soak in an Epsom salts bath is a wonderful thing ππ
Thanks misswobble, I reckon if I had continued to HM, it was only about 500.metres more I might have got injured, I ended up 1 minute walk from where I live, I ran my usual 5K/10K route around the loch a few times, then at ten miles had a short 2 minutes walk, continued running through several streets always getting nearer my home, after that I entered another park, this is the same park that I often run when it's raining and is only 3 minutes walk away from where I live, however, today I entered it at the other side, I looked at my watch, still 10 minutes until that 2 hours 45 minutes, at this stage the auto voice on Mapmyrun told me that I had run 19 kilometers, o I thought I should get to 20 by 2h.45 minutes, another 1K around the park, 20K run, at this stage I am only 500 metres from where I live, my watch shows 2 hours 44 minutes, I minute to go, now at 2 hours 45 minutes I stop one minute from my home, time:-2hours 45 minutes, distance :-20.59K, just around 500 metres short of a Half marathon, my longest ever run.
itβs another milestone ππ. I think you could have nailed the half but youβd set out to do ten miles. If youβd have set out to do the half youβd have nailed it π. The half marathon is still there, ready for when you want to go for it πββοΈ
I am thinking of running a HM later this year, depending on the weather and how I feel, perhaps the week between Christmas and New year ππΎβ π
Good for you! We get some good weather through winter. Itβs not all bad π. A bright, crisp day - watery sunshine peeping through will suffice. A dry forecast would make it a goer πππββοΈ
I can recall running a half marathon latish afternoon on Boxing Day, having eaten so much lunch in the pub that I could hardly breathe on the drive home βΊοΈ I got home, got changed and got out there. It was the perfect antidote π
Good luck with your plans π€
That's fantastic! Very well done Sir, you're an inspiration.
Thank you very much Freecloud. β π
Absolutely amazing AlMorr, just thinking of running for 2hrs 45 mins is making me tired, youβre quite unbelievable - a huge well done! ππ»
Epic Β AlMorr ! I applaud your decision to stop at the allotted time and not continue on to 21.1k! Not sure Iβd have been so sensible! π
Thanks CC, as I said above I never intended to run 21.1K, I wanted to run my 6th ten miles run but at ten miles I felt fine and decided to continue with the run until I had ran for 2 hours 45 minutes, by then my legs were starting to feel sore so I stopped running, I don't feel too bad now, any soreness has now goneβ πππΎ
Well done Al Morr. You must feel really good and extremely proud . Take a well earned rest. ππ
That's a fantastic distance in 2hours 45 mins AlMorr πππWell done π
Thanks Caroline, nice run for me today, unlike last week when I ran a 5K and was soaked to the skin on the last kilometer, today the rain β began when I got home, I havn't heard from you for a while, I hope you are still running. π ππΎ
I'm still running Alan, somewhat less.. I've had an injury, family illness..then stubbed my toe so bad I'm off for another few days .. just a bad patch..
Hopefully build up from Monday π
That's brilliant Al, 2 hours 45mins is a long time to keep running πͺππ
Huge well done to you Al! That is quite an achievement... again!
Knowing when to stop too, easy to say, but not easy to do ! Rest up after the dog walking.. eat and sleep well! You deserve it!
Congratulations Al - you're 4k ahead of me now!
ππ Fabulous run AlMorr - really well done! π Does this tempt you to sign up for a HM?
Thanks Sandraj39, not really, I didn't intend to run that distance today, as I mentioned to others I did want to run my 6th ten miles run which I did, no problem after that 10 miles, I had a two minutes quick walk, thought to myself 'let's see how far I get running slowly for 2 hours 45 minutes', by that time I was feeling a bit tired and my legs were getting a little sore, no, I can't see me signing up for a Half Marathon any time soon.
Wow! Fabulous!!! So, so close to a half marathon. I can't wait to see you claim yourself a badge next time you decide to go long. Rest well now though πππ
Well done Al; superb run. I did my first HM in just the same way β¦felt good so kept running. You now know that you can do HM if and when you want to. For now Linda is rightβ¦eat well then sleep!
Thanks BC66, the run was great, maybe one day I'll complete that 500 metres I left out today, when I got home the rain started, it was quite heavy for a few hours, I didn't get out with Holly the dog because of the rain, tomorrow and Friday have to be much better, I ate my usual ice cream swirl when I got home, I should get a good sleep tonight.
You know you can run HM Al, you can choose whether you actually want to or not. π
I would say thatβs a bit more than a reasonable run for you there AlMorr ! Well done π π.
The run was reasonable in the sense that I wasn't all that tired or knackered by the time I finished the run, my legs were getting a bit sore, I just noticed that my split times were 5K 38:08, which was my 125th (not ) parkrun, 8K :-1 hour and 1 minute and the split 10K was 1:16:06, I will probably go for another 10K in two weeks, my average time for a 10K is around 1:11:30
Well done AlMorr on being able to run so far and not having sore legs until the very end. That's quite an achievement. I've been training for a HM race coming up this month for 18 weeks now and my legs are always tired! I have what I think is my last long run this Sunday and I'm really nervous as to whether I will be able to last the distance even though I will be jeffing it. The furthest I have run so far is 14km and I was very tired afterwards. This Sunday it's going to be just over 18km! How did you fuel and hydrate for your run today?
Superb stuff Al, very impressed at the run, and also in knowing when to stop! πππ
Well done, Sir. This is an inspiration to the rest of us.πππ
Wow thatβs a great distance AlMorr ππ»! Well done
Super run! Well done π
Wow! π² Congratulations AlMorr on your longest run ever ππ» ππ»ππ»ππ»
Having run a couple of 10 miles myself I donβt think I could have run one minute more π₯΅. Fantastic run. Well done β
Well done Al! I did my first and only 10 miles last year to celebrate my 75th, when I got to our gate I thought itβs only a 5K circuit and itβs a HM , but common sense prevailed π±π€£π I intended to do HM this year but constant injuries have prevented it. Hopefully next yearπ€, I take my hat off to you sir, that was incredible!! An inspiration to us all.
Great stuff, Al. If you want to do it, itβs just a smidge further to your half marathon. One day, when the legs feel right β¦..
Well done Al, sounds like a very satisfying run π
That's a brilliant run AlMorr. Just one of those runs where you hit the rhythm and keep on going .Congratulations!
Thanks Week7, I must have hit the correct rhythm yesterday on my run.
Oh, I really live those runs when it "just works" . I have a 2 hr long slow run scheduled for Saturday-I hope to hit the right pace too-but I will definitely stop at 2 hours, that will be enough for me at the moment.
You may get to 10 miles Week7, most times I have ran ten miles my time had been a little over 2 hours, yesterday it was around 2 hours 4 minutes, my best time for ten miles is 2 hours and 1 minute.
π€ You are right-my last long run was 16.5km -it was meant to be 2hrs but I ran on for an extra couple of minutes so that I could have that satisfying-"I just ran 10 miles feeling!"Happy running happy running πββοΈ
Very well done Al, you are an example to us all. I think next time you go out for a 10 mile run you will run a half marathon .
Thank you very much Dexy5, indeed I might try a full HM the next time I run a 10 miles run and just continue with the run to 21,1K if I feel the way I felt yesterday, a rather sad ending to a great day I had on Wednesday, my cat Eeshan, that's the cat you partially see on my profile page died aged 19 and a half, that's a good age for a cat but nevertheless a sad way to end Wednesday.
That is so sad Al. I know that losing a constant feline companion is like losing a family member. As you say, 19 is a very good age for a cat, but it doesnβt help at this sad time.
I will dedicate my next parkrun, which you will understand on Saturday. πββ¬
Thank you very much Dexy, that's a nice dedication at your next parkrun to the memory of my cat Eeshan who died peacfully on Wednesday night, on Saturday I have arranged with my daughter to parkwalk at Drumpellier Parkrun, I still hope to run at least the last two kilometers, I'll see how that goes, she hopes to take her husband and two children as well
Good evening AlMorr so sorry to hear about your cat, Eeshan. I hope they didn't suffer too much.
No Eeshan didn't suffer, he died peacefully after I gave him what was to be his last meal on Wednesday evening, Eeshan was around 19 and a half which is quite old for a cat, however, I will still miss him wandering around the house and jumping on to me sitting on the couch.
hey Al, what a good run you had
Brilliant run. Well done. HM within easy range ( after a proper rest ofc) I would have thought!!!
Epic run Al! That HM is calling you now! π
Fabulous Al! Amazing run and a great idea to see how far you can go within a time. HM next? πͺπͺπͺ
Wow that's absolutely amazing Al! Many congratulations on your longest run ever! And so very close to a half marathon πππ it sounds like a very enjoyable run, very well done ππ
Thanks Beatlesforever, I was thinking of running a HM weather permitting perhaps between Christmas and New, the route would be a combination of all the 3 places I run, links along quiet streets with only one main road to cross.
Very sad, it was a mixed day for me on Wednesday, that great run I had in the morning, then later in the evening finding Eeshan dead after me giving her her last meal a little earlier, also the very sad news of the passing of IannodaTruffe, Tim.
That's fantastic, congratulations AlMorr on a brilliant achievement π x
Sorry to hear about your Eeshan passing, animals are such a big part of our lives, glad it was peaceful x
wow fantastic running!! ππ
Wow Al this is exceptional! Huge congratulations on your longest run ever!
Thank you very much Tasha, I suppose it was exceptional, especially for me as I had never ran such a long distance before, by the way yesterday I ran at Drumpellier Parkrun, that was the first time there since I met you and Dean, my daughter Gillian came with me, she walked the course.
