My longest run

This afternoon I set out for at least 5 but felt really good. I thought then that I could aim for 10 so took a quick gel to keep me going. I'm really pleased and proud tonight as 15 miles is my longest run and I got stronger as the run went on. The conditions were good too, a little warm and a nice breeze along the bank.

Congratulations on your longest run of 15 miles, I am glad that the really hot weather is over, that would help you as its now a little cooler, have a relaxing evening after your wonderful achievement today, you certainly deserve to be pleased and very proud of yourself 😊 🏃🏾

in reply to AlMorr

Thank you Al. It went my way today 😃

PS, if you had ran for just over another mile that would have been 26 Kilometers in which you could have the word Metric Marathon next to your username, nevertheless a great run and time for you. 😊 🏃🏾 👍

I've always wondered what that meant too!

OMG @GTFC, how phenomenal is that? Amazingly well done you! You’ll be at FM before you know it! 💥🎉💥🎉💥

in reply to cheekychipmunks

I think this may be my max for a while but felt really good tonight 😊

Wow well done! I can’t motivate myself to do anything beyond 10 miles at the moment 😬

in reply to Tasha99

I usually keep 8 or under and do a longer one than that once a month. I just felt good tonight but my legs ache now 🙈 I have learned loads from you and you've made me a better, more efficient runner.

Flipping heck, look at all those calories you used up, a huge well done, i can’t even imagine running that long although maybe one day

in reply to SueAppleRun

I'll aim to be where you are when I get to your age. Then I'll be buzzing 😁

Ha ha ha well we only started running last year so you have many years of practise on us, it’s been so hot running this week but looking at our easy runs of which we do 2 a week we have now done 3 and each one has been faster even though it feels slow, in fact when we finished this morning I was wondering why we bothered as not even puffing but still the fastest 3.22k yet so this plan seems to have started working already

in reply to SueAppleRun

Yes, this all sounds so positive. Keep going and you're obviously doing all the right things. I started in Nov 19 and have learnt so much already. If you are running well and it doesn't feel too fast or arduous then it's really starting to come together 😃

Cracking run GTFC , what a brilliant distance . Your weather conditions sound great 👏👏💪

in reply to Buddy34

Thank you Buddy! Strava said 22° Humidity 70% and wind 15 mph. It felt good out there this afternoon/early evening.

Good job! 👍🏻😁 I hope you had plenty of fluids with you, hydration is always key, especially on longer distances.

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

Yes thank you 😊 hydration is key for me. I had a little jacket on with room for a bottle on the front.

Good stuff. I tend to work on 500ml for every 5 miles or expected hour adjusting a little either way for weather.

Keep an eye out for places to refill, many churches have an outside tap, pubs, shops etc. Nothing worse than running out of water 👍🏻😁

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

You are ace! 🤩

I've once resorted to a stand pipe on the side of a horse trough.... on private land. Felt awful hopping the gate but I had over 5 miles left to go and no water.... just be sure it's fresh water and let it run a few seconds to clear any stagnant standing water.

I've also just asked folks in their gardens, once in Spain, miles from any kind of shops etc, twice fairly locally (one recent, within the plandemic) people are usually happy to assist, not like it's wine you're asking for! 🤣

Wow GTFC, you're really cooking on gas!

Don't quote me but I'm sure I saw a while back that they're doing a Metric Marathon badge on here these days, in which case you're not far from it!

Excellent run 👏

in reply to Run46

Thank you so much. Yes Al Morr told me this in the comments. It's 16.3 miles so next time I do a biggie I'll go for 17-18.
