I have been trotting for around 15 months.Through the normal route C25K with the support of HealthUnlocked, the magic forum.
Posted some stuff I have tried and at 76 my prime interest is to see how fast I can run.But it takes time to decide to go long or shorter or even both.They are complimentary.🤔
Always had an interest and Abi’s Speed Challenge has basically supported and fed the interest.
Along the way the forum links have been immense on physiology medical facts on mitiochondria and twitch muscles and physcological quotes.
To run faster you first have to run fast.🤔
I found I trotted at 9-11 mins / km at the start of my journey and for a long time.Perhaps a year.
Only recently and mainly due to Abi’s SC I think the confusion has evaporated and I find myself cantering at 7-8 mins/ km, galloping at 6-7 and perhaps getting into the 5-6 mins / km band.
At this stage I am using only the one km distance. It’s a start and hope to build on that.Do not intend to forget about the shorter distances either.100/200/400/800m.
My interest in speed is individual.But I have found that seeing the achievements of others on the magic forum and the SC., exciting, constructive and educational in pursuing a personal continuous improvement and enjoyment of a gift that we are so blessed to give to ourselves.
It is about challenging ourselves for some and certainly enjoying ourselves for all.
