Amazing stuff being achieved on here.Too many to mention but it is thought provoking and inspiring.
I used to beat myself up for having too many plans and changing them.Boringπ not enough doing and too much talking.
But hey ho, just realised it comes with being a noviceπ€ and also we are all uniquely different and have different needs and indeed reasons for giving and using our gift of running.π
Little brain cell busy, too busy.Working on two plans.
1) Using Abiβs SSC caption I nearly stole a Crown I am pursuing this morning.Knocked 14 secs off in two 200m runs. Two more seconds I need now.Its so close I can taste it.
2) Thinking of revising my Couch to Once in a Lifetime Marathon initial plan.Inspired by GoGoJoJo,( Mrs Brown/Mrsβ to me) and one of many of Tashaβs ideas on here, I am going to look at a shorter build up programme when I start back through C25k, bridge,HM and maybe not for the final stage.
Also considering just leaving from the door and keep returning to refuel as the miles and hours builds up for me from 30 mins to 6/ 7 hours.Looking at two sessions morning and afternoon as things progress with unlimited rest in between the main three types of programme runs required. All the twitch fibres developed.π€
So no rigid frequency at all, just a running response when ready ( plus one day alla Pete Magill) but doing the scheduled run type in order.π€
No event for me, as per my HM, just β the Marathon distance box and experience what that feels like.
Go the magic forum.Atb with your plans and running enjoyment.
Hi Tbae, I like that caption, "When I was a boy" I didn't see too many scary things on television, you knocked off 14 seconds in the 200 metres, excellent, that reminds me of when I was in Primary School I won some sprint runs like the 50 yards dash, but despite the wins I gave up running and took up cycling instead. If I can remember correctly at age 11 they forced me to run a race that I did not want to run, but when I ran it I deliberately slowed down to let everyone else beat me, ouch, I think I got a telling off from both my teacher and my father, but after that I did not do any more running and concentrated on cycling until I began running again 50 years later with C25K last year. You said that you would be restarting that again soon.
By the way I have not given up cycling, this morning I went for a 12 Kilometre cycle ride, that's 24 hours after my second 5K parkrun at Dunfermline yesterday,
I am not sure about a sub 30 minute 5k at parkrun, the two I have ran in were 34.16 and yesterday 34.17, however, my two PB's have been ran locally round the loch nearby to where I live, 32.25 and the best being 32.23, interesting, those 4 runs being in each case only 2 and 1 seconds between them, perhaps I have reached my limit, maybe I could run a sub 30 minute 5k on a treadmill. π π
π The weather now where I am is yuk, it's raining, not too heavy but I am glad that I am not out on my bike or running, it was dry when I was out my cycle ride this morning.
Tomorrow morning I am going to have a walk around Milngavie Reservoir near Mugdock Country Park, that is where I ran one of the 25 minutes runs last year before I graduated from C25K.
Never been right since, ha, really, I do remember you telling me about that chimp, zoo long gone, the place us now called Mugdock Country Park, on it's extreme southern border there is the now famous international West Highland Way, the last time I went a walk round the reservoir I got off the train at Milngavie there were about 20 backpackers, mainly from abroad beginning their 95 mile walk to Fort William up the West Highland Way.
That made me laugh and remember my little sister, who lived swimming and was really good at it but at age 7 refused point blank to do swimming at school because it was compulsory. She wanted to swim because SHE wanted to not because someone made her
She just used to stand at the end of the pool till they gave up. Sheβs not changed even at 57!!
The reason for me refusing and being stubborn may well have been the same as your sister at swimming, I think the reason for me being fast at running was because of the amount of cycling I did at the time, I did like the π² bike instead of running π If my father had said to me "if you win this race (the one that I slowed down) I will buy you a new bike" I would have gone all out and won the race. π π
You just do you, tbae! Try anything and everything you fancy. Why not! Plans are brilliant, they motivate and focus us, but never have to be set in stone. We all evolve our approaches as we run, consciously or otherwise, and all those approaches are absolutely individual and unique. It's great to hear about all those different experiences on here too, I think it can be really inspiring.
