Go the magic forum and all the links that are supplied on here.
This particular link is supplied on here by Abi and is the Pete Magill stuff, and how he among many other things, dispelled the notion that seniors or masters ,as he refers to them, cannot run quickly in their retirement years.
I have been having a bit of fun with this on the side while participating in Abiβs SSC.Have not been running regularly for a while so I could not participate in the round the moon distance challenge.TBH finding 500m long enough until I can inflate my lungs again.ππ€£
Went for an early morning birthday dash on 2/8/19 and clocked 1:14 for the 200m segment called Penrhos Farm Gate to the Beach on Strava.Placed 9th overall.
Felt penned in yesterday 8/8/19 and went for another dash and clocked 1:08 and placed 2nd overall.
Now got my eye on the prize, the Crown, but to get that I would have to clock 52 seconds for the 200m.
Got 3 more runs during the SSC.But when I start back on my repeat of C25k soon, this is something I will continue to chase during interval training.

Interestingly, after reading this, I have just had a quick look on Strava, at my odd, end of run activities where I see if there is anything left in the tank..I have a lot of odd distances done quite quickly too..210 m- 1.31...400 m-2.26.. 310 m-1.54 it goes on...These are all done after a longer run has been completed also... just to see..
I want to look at my runs now and segments in them... I will never be speedy, but, what you are saying is correct... this really does show that we can and do move faster than we are given credit for age wise...
Your right Floss and your times are quick particularly after putting in the distance.
You have mentioned before that medics acknowledge your great condition which is confirmed by your running abilities and also your impressive powers of recovery.
I am just trying to learn stuff and have the immense joy and fun in this Floss.
The simple points that many people make helps.Certainly Pete Magill and in a different way the younger guy Ben Greenfield deliver light bulb moments that at least make you want to examine and see if it fits for you.
For example , for some, it is not about piling in the hours in a gym.
You and I and many other Masters , too many to name, on the forum can confirm to Pete Magill 15 years+ our junior that he is spot on with regards to pace/age correlation.
I think many coaches acknowledge that good pace is not our absolute limiter.Really is anything.π€Not in the opinion of Kipchoge.
All the twitch muscles and explosive mitochondria are key for us Floss, you have led by example, keep on keeping on.
Sorry I am passionately excited and rambling. You are always Mentoring runners, listen to your body , slow and steady, the runs can wait, etc, etc and more.
It is exactly what this younger man is advising.Wait until your ready before doing your next run and add a day for good measure.βοΈππ
