Hello - I’m unsure if this is an appropriate question to ask here, but I’m due to have a laparoscopy on Monday and have an undiagnosed (proving impossible) blood clotting disorder that likely caused my CRVO. I’m 38. I will be injected with Fragmin and also take daily aspirin - I’m due to have my first of 3 Eyelea injections on April 29th and had my last unsuccessful Lucentis jab in November.
I’m wondering if this is safe? It’s incredibly difficult to get different departments of the NHS to coordinate and I’m trying to gather whether going forward with this elective surgery is a bad idea. I read that I’d eye surgery has taken place in last 6months Fragmin is not recommended - what about procedures thereafter??
I’m so stressed 😞

Stressed are you! I can see why, that is a great question and one that your Docs should be your go=to for information. You are worried about the blood clot situation from the drug they are using for the elective surgery? Have you tried Avastin for the AMD? I like it, I tried Eylea (allergy so that is out) and lucentis..I like lucentis but I cannot afford it because the charity that was helping to pay for it went under.
If I were you I'd put your question in writing by email to both consultants cc each other asking them to give you definitive answers. If you get no response escalate to PALS to get an answer for you. Good luck.
Hello all - I am 2.5 weeks post op and 1 week post Eylea. Everything went well in both procedures and all of my history and medications were taken into consideration beforehand.
What I will say is that since the Eylea I have noticed at first a dark patch appear in my my vision (left treated eye) which is very slowly fading. Also there is an intermittent shooting pain that passes thru the same eye, I never experienced this after any of the Lucentis injections I had. I am going to wait out the weekend to see if this subsides and then call the eye clinic to report.
I’m exhausted with the constant hospital visits but realise I am very lucky to have had access to private healthcare (for my laparoscopy/hysteroscopy) and the care from the NHS for my eyes - I realise that in some other countries treatments are not so easily available. I hope you are all well and thank you for your responses to my original message x
