Does anyone here who has the butterfly rash on the face have any ideas on how to stop it burning?
My rash feels like it is burning constantly, nothing seems to work.

hi l used to have very bad butterfly rash......since lstarted on hydroxychoroquine 400mg per day it more or less dissapeared.......cant remember the name but dermtolgy gave me a steroid base cream took the burn out..hope that helps all the best. lori
thanks for the answer, unfortunately all the normal Dermatology methods have done nothing and my rash is just spreading...but really appreciate the reply...
Thanks.
When you are outside, even if it is cloudy put SPF 50 or higher. I noticed that it made a huge difference to me, I used to have the same issue. The steroid cream is great, but it makes your skin very fragile so even a tiny bit of sun could start the whole 'burning feeling' process again. Another thing which work (helped me)is ice cool natural yogurt which you apply on the butterfly area. It is really soothing- and natural as well.
Good luck
Thanks for that, will give it a go....
this may sound odd..but basic savlon skin healin cream helped with mine..i get patches of the rash at side of my face that drive me mad with an intense burning/itching..that and a water based skin cream from dermatology
I have had Elocon, Protopic and more recently Clovate steroidal creams, but to be honest I find the high factor sunscreens help more with the burning sensation. Natural yoghurt is also a great soother, and believe it or not baby lotion sometimes helps too! x
Dear All, I didn't realise the butterfy rash was DLE, I put propolis on mine, it burns like !, also take an extra antihistamine, which helps with inching, agree about the sun screen, intigued by the use of yogurt!
