Hi matt , i have suffered with this on and off and im on a good period at the moment. I havent found a cure but i try rinsing with cider vinegar in warm water and i find daktarin gel is helpful even though its not thrush . I will follow this post to see if you get other suggestions. Hope it settles and you have a lovely Christmas 🎄
Hi Matt - I have same but round my gums lips and nose which is less typical. My sister has burning mouth syndrome as you describe and swears by coconut oil pulling - where you put a spoonful in your mouth and gargle with it, being careful not to swallow for about a minute - then spit it all out!
Make sure it’s not due to oral thrush too.
I have had that badly. Can’t really pin it down because of thyroid issues , my treatment for that is quite good presently so could be associated with that in my case.
But possible, gluton Free has given a lot of relief with overheating and I am drinking a teaspoonful of turmeric , some black pepper in warm water. Supposed to be the best anti inflammatory . Not unpleasant as a savoury drink .
Try the website TheMouthUlcerShop - they know all about the problems with Sjogrens - after looking at their site give them a call. Very helpful. I use Xylimelts to keep my mouth moist during sleep. Good luck
Hi Matt80,
According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, Sjögren’s syndrome “affects the lacrimal glands, which secretes tears, causing dry eyes, and the salivary glands, which secrete saliva, causing a dry mouth”. There are several ways which a person can experience a sore tongue for example by having an extremely dry mouth or by having a candida infection which needs to be treated with antifungal medication.
The NHS Choices’ website provides information on various types of treatments to help relieve the symptoms associated with Sjögren’s syndrome which I hope you will find useful: nhs.uk/Conditions/Sjogrens-...
We published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: The Mouth, Nose and Eyes’ which you can read here: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
