Hi, been getting all sorts of rashes all over, but mainly hands, top of feet, toes and chest. All at different times. Hands come out red and burning round the palms , or on patches in the knuckles. Pressure on skin causes burning welts or arms legs. Then i have the rash on my kneck and shoulders that comes and goes. Seen dermatoligist, not much joy there started blood tests etc. Thinks it is alk urticaria or bed bugs. It is not bed bugs ! Good idea my hands are circulation related. Its the rash on my chest that comes and goes that gets me. Anyone seen anything like this, does this look related to lupus or vascukitis. There is not much itch or burn on this.. comes and goes during the day. If different places, but is now starting to leave little brown marks where it comes back to the same place repeatedly.
Any ideas on these rashes lupus ?: Hi, been getting... - LUPUS UK
Any ideas on these rashes lupus ?
Wow I've got same or very similar rashes in my hips, lower back, though my back and legs but dermatologist have told me it was only due to stress, but I'm not sure about it.They also go away and after come back in a way bigger than before, and when they go they leave some brown marks too, have you talked to a professional or know something about it?🤔
My medics say my version of what may be similar rashes is mainly due to secondary small vessel vasculitis. Mine occur mainly on parts of bod where there is less flesh between skin & bone: knees, lower legs, feet, elbows, wrists hands even chin area over teeth/jaw + over the teeth/jaw area nearest the nasolabial fold.
Rheumatology prescribes me the strongest version of betnovate topical steroid for my version of this:
Betamethasone Valerate RD 0.025% W/W (1g = 0.25mg betamethosone) OINTMENT 0.1% w/w for vasculitic skin rashes,...also for perniosis...i also use a topical fungicide if the rashes seem to clear up but recur
I like to think i’ve been getting less of these rashes now my daily pred has been increased from 5mg to 10mg...and i think 1000mg mycophenolate daily also is helping.
Hope something in there is useful 🍀🍀🍀🍀 coco
Thanks guys. The issue i have they come and go. Went to dermatilagist and nothing was there to show him. He was a little hard work. Doing all the right tests, just a waiting game. He thinks all my rashes are urticaria. I am not convinced. When i get up in the morning, i can see traces of them in the mirror. By the time i have cleaned my teeth , they are bright red. Seem to get worse when i stand up. Patches now all over my upper body. We will see what comes from the dermatolagist.
Dear sim391,
I might be 'overreacting' here but, my Gut Feeling' is an Alarm Bell! Please DO get yourself, to your Vasculitis/Auto-immune Doctor, as quickly as possible. I could be wrong and, if I am, there is no harm done, is there? Let me know, will you please sim391?
Kindest wishes

Andrew, mine alarms are too. Is a dermatolagist the right person ir should i go back to my gp. It took 2 months to get an appointnent hes done bloods, awaiting news.
I don't know....Maybe try BOTH. I would stress, your fears, you know how to do THAT I'm sure. I don't know if you are a boy, or girl, but a few 'Snivels' and always help. (poor, confused, frightened and 'lost' Patient- you know the Score)
Good Luck

Fir what it’s worth:
My GP was the first medic i saw about my version of these...he immediately diagnosed them: vasculitic rashes....and prescribed betnovate. Soon after my lupus expert rheumatologist confirmed this diagnosis & treatment (based on medical history, photos, physical examination & no biopsy). My pos response to prescription treatment is considered confirmation of diagnosis.
Years previously my otherwise excellent NHS dermatology consultant had diagnosed “periaural dermatitis” when i showed her a particularly nasty version over my lower jaw/side if chin
