Hi everyone Hope you're all doing ok. Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced low white blood cell due to azathioprine. I have sle and have been on these for years. Recently I had bloods done as I was feeling so run down my wcc is 1.5 and neut is 0.75. I'm waiting on a call back from rheumatologist. Just wanted to know what to expect. Many thanks in advance

Low white cells
Be careful because you will pick everything up thats going around and any sign of infection go for treatment promptly. Your body is unable to fight it so you're at risk.
I had letter from my consultant when my neutrophils were very low with this advice.
Take care x
hi lioness42
My white blood count got very low but by time I went for a repeat bloods I had developed a sinus infection and put straight in a side room.
I was given injections every other day in my stomach (sorry can’t remember what they were called!! Just remember them saying how expensive the injection where)
I stayed in hospital on antibiotics etc for 2 weeks.
please be very careful until they sort your blood out x x
Typically I had things happen out of the normI fell on a walk. Cut my finger. A uti.
I think my body was weaker and I was clumsy , not sure f thats a symptom of low white blood count x
You certainly went through it xx
Am not too sure, I was definitely weaker!
I just remember hospital phoning can you come for more bloods and sit and wait for results. I didn’t want to go 🙈 I felt like I had a bad cold and just wanted to go to bed! But was dragged by my mum, good job really my white blood cells was 0.2 😱
How did they treat your low white blood count?x x
Thanks everyone. I got through to rheumatologist and have an appointment booked for review in 2 weeks. In the meantime I'm to stay off the azathioprine.
