High white blood cells: Hi I just noticed on all my... - LUPUS UK
High white blood cells
How high and what medications are you on? It isn't only infections that raise the count - inflammation, medications and some illnesses do as well.
My wbc is 11.9 range is 4-10. my Neutrophil 8 range is 2-7.5 Lymphocyte 3.6 range is 1-3.5. I am only on pain medication for fibromyalgia. I was checked years ago for Lupus after having 7 miscarriages but it was negative. I'm really only starting out on this journey as I'm now dealing with alot of joint pain, years ago they told me I had sticky blood so I took clexane and aspring throughout my 2 successful pregnancies.
None of those is really concerningly high and since you say you have always had similar results you may just be someone with high results that are normal for you. The normal range is the range of figures found in 95% of a normal healthy population - 2.5% above and below that range are perfectly healthy and what are called outliers. Maybe you are one of the top end 2,5%.
If your joint pain is due to inflammation that is the probable cause of the raised levels and they will investigate. If you has "sticky blood" during pregnancy - have you been checked for that now?
sorry about your miscarriages. That’s so heartbreaking. Have you been checked for antiphospholid antibodies, (APS). It is an autoimmune blood clotting disorder (sticky blood) and acts a lot like lupus. I have it and joint pain and fatigue are awful. A lot of drs haven’t heard of it. My rheumatologist asked me if I have ever had miscarriages. I thought she was nuts considering I was in my 70s at the time. That’s why she tested me for APS.
Awwww thank you so much....I found out about APS just recently by reading that someone else called it sticky blood, but on my notes it's just says blood clotting disorder I have mentioned it to my new Doctor hopefully I get some clarity as it would all drive you insane lol.
I hope so. So many doctors haven’t heard of it or just ignore it. Fortunately I haven’t had blood clots. Had miscarriages and many lupus symptoms, which seems to be pretty common with APS. You must take two tests 12 weeks apart. If they both come out positive you will get an APS diagnosis.
