Third covid jab

Has anyone received the third covid jab yet?, not the standard booster one , I’m in the group that falls into the immunosuppressant category but I’ve still not heard anything, my gp doesn’t seem to know anything other than the booster programme will be starting soon, but according to JCVI people in this category should be receiving their jab now

I’ve was just about to post about this too. Have just rung my GP. They are insisting it’s done as part of the booster jabs in the same cohort groups as before and six months from our last 2nd jab. The info I read from jcvi (and I may have interpreted it incorrectly) was the third for us was almost like part of the package of the 1st & 2nd) and needed to be done asap. Not waiting a few more weeks. I asked about scheduling timing as on a biologic and she said they’d had no guidance on that and we’d need to contact our rheumy as it should come from them. As far as she was concerned I didn’t need to stop my meds. No one seems to have a clue! x

My gp is saying virtually the same it’s a joke, seems like we always have to fight and chase to receive what has already been agreedLet’s just hope it happens soon

I'm beyond frustrated and angry about this. I am now convinced that initiatives are announced prematurely before there has been any implementation planning done at all, purely as PR and to keep us quiet.

- Octave study into vaccine response in the immunosuppressed (a pre-condition for any government action about us) - only started end of March this year.

- Octave study preliminary results - initially promised June this year, eventually published end of August. According to my research, a date for results was chased 18 times in parliament this year (House of Commons debates, House of Lords debates, written parliamentary answers). This was really important, as the results were constantly referenced as a precondition to make any decision re. the immunosuppressed population. Fobbed off every time bar once.

- Vaccination of children with a clinically vulnerable parent - announced in July; people were still having to jump through hoops to get their children vaccinated over a month later.

- Vaccination as 3rd primary dose of immunosuppressed - announced 1st September. To date seems to be a repeat of the above in terms of chaotic implementation.

This is against a background where 'Children previously identified as CEV are no longer considered to be CEV' (Jenny Harries letter, 23rd August) and the Government has ended shielding generally (Jo Churchill statement, 15th September). The latter suggests 'individuals ... (manage) their own conditions with their health professionals', throwing all responsibility back to us in a situation where we have very little control. She's presumably never tried to get an ad hoc call returned from an NHS consultant.

I think this is all nonsense - obfuscating, delaying, tactical, nonsense. This is probably not the correct forum for this, but I've written it now - perhaps I'll turn it into a letter to my MP.

I agree totally ! It just seems to be a constant uphill struggle with us the patients being bounced between supposed professionals

I provided all the information from the JCVI to my GP. They said that although the JCVI makes announcements, GP surgeries need to get confirmed deliveries and instructions from NHS before they can actually do anything. But hopefully soon they will received the instructions and are waiting to be able to go ahead.

He did say that since mass vaccinations centers dont have these limitations, may be possible to do it that way while they wait on this.

I did. I had side effects for 2 days and then it was ok. I had Moderna and from what I read it is the most potent vaccine so I wish I waited a bit more. I had no side effects with the first two.

I can tell you I am in a rural, often end of the line for support & not leading in anything in the UK. Giving me hope that if it can happen here it can happen for the rest of the UK. I bypassed my GP (did cc surgery in my email to local vaccination enquiries. I am hoping the centres are up-to-date & have vaccines available for vaccines now)....

Give it a try.... Hoping 👍success...ml

Thanks maggielee, I will give it a try, isn't it ridiculous that we have to chase and do all the work, so much for being a priority group

That's exactly how I was feeling, but to my big surprise when someone, somewhere actually understood what I was asking & had staff contact me !!! the next day - shock of shocks.... I been doing so much chasing of late, but really felt this was worth yet another letter/email ....Good luck....ml
