Spring Covid Booster

Hello everyone. Hope you’ve had a good Easter 🐣 I’ve had a text from my GP inviting me for my spring booster. I have SLE. I’ve had 4 vaccines already and have caught Covid twice. I’m not sure about this booster. Has anyone else been invited to have theirs and what are your thoughts on yet another vaccine. Take care ❤️❤️

I have had 4, zero plans to have anymore. Last vaccine made me very ill, and has left me with numerous issues, no help, and much gaslighting by the medics.

I think my question would be how much worse catching Covid would be without the vaccine. It's not a foulproof way to stop you catching it - most vaccines aren't - but it lessens the symptoms if you do. I'll be getting it when offered as your protection wanes relatively quickly. So sorry that you've had Covid twice, that's no fun!

Hi.my booster is booked for the 22nd April and it will be either no7 or no8 for me.as I'm immunosuppressed and my lupus affects my lungs it's a no brainer for me personally x

Same here. I’ll be getting no 7 when called for it. I have ILD and pulmonary fibrosis thanks to lupus. As well as being immunosuppressed.

The first time I had covid I was hospitalised twice. I’ve had it since the vaccines and been ok. No brainer for me too. I don’t intend to go into hospital again if I can help it and I certainly don’t intend to die from covid, I’d rather be a bit ill for a day or so after the vaccine!

I'd lost count as to whether it was 7 or 8 .I hope all goes well with your next vaccine and it keeps you safe from covid x 🤗

I had it (the jab) a couple of weeks ago and it wasn’t too bad. Even at its worst the jab is still better than being hospitalised with covid. I don’t want that again!

I had mine yesterday (Moderna). Happy to take everything offered to help. I’m in Scotland and this was my 7th

I wish this booster had arrived a month earlier as I’ve just had covid for the first time and it was far worse than having the vaccine and stopping my methotrexate for the 2 weeks after the vaccine for the optimal response; that’s despite having antivirals and 6 previous doses of vaccine. Vaccine protection wanes significantly from 4-6 months and I was precisely at the 6 months when I caught it.

it’s your choice. I will get vaccinated when I’m told to, same as flu vaccine every year, whether they help 🤷‍♀️ I’ve not had covid, despite being with family who have.

I’ve not been invited yet but will take it when offered - but everyone has to weigh up their own pros and cons. I’ve had 6 so far and have flared after each one, as I do with the flu vaccine as well. I’m figuring if my body responds so strongly to the vaccine it’s just not worth the risk of not knowing how I’ll react to the virus itself. People I know who have had it have either been very mild or have described it as the worst thing they’ve ever had without any rhyme or reason as to which way it’ll go. With the way my body is it feels too much like a game of Russian roulette for me to take that risk. I understand that won’t be everyone’s view but with there being no isolation requirements now I think the risk of catching it now is higher than ever and for me it’s just not worth taking the chance that my immune system overreacts and starts attacking something it shouldn’t

Hi everyone, I thought I was the only person who suffered from the Covid vaccine. First two vaccine I had Astra Zeneca and then Pfizer. Both vaccine I didn’t feel good, but the booster Pfizer vaccine made me very ill. Tightness in my chest and dizzy spells. Was given antibiotics for a week and was ok. After the antibiotics it came back again tightness in my chest and dizzy spells. Back and forth 3 times. Then I caught Covid 5 months later. Suffered badly, coughed for 2 months and discomfort in my chest again, was sunlight sensitive and had vertigo for the first time and vertigo again within 4 months again. Was lucky I lived with my parents and they can pick up the medication for me. I am worried whether I should have the vaccine, because I am planning a pregnancy this year. Appreciate any advice.

I’ve just received an invitation and I’m not sure why as I only take hydroxychloroquine. I did get prescribed methotrexate by my consultant last year, but never actually took any because the rheumatology nurse didn’t phone me to set up blood tests etc. and then I started feeling better.

So I’ve booked my appointment, but suspect I’ll get turned away! It would be my 5th and I’ve not had problems, so I’d be quite happy to get it.

I have mine booked for Monday. It will be my 6th (I think?). I’ve had either Pfizer or Moderna so far. The last couple have made me a bit groggy and achy in my arm for a couple of days but nothing worse than what I get after annual flu jabs. I think it may be because it was a shorter period of time between those jabs. I’ve miraculously managed to avoid Covid so far, as far as I can tell. But I’m happy to keep taking what protection I’m offered, to give me peace of mind to go about my life relatively normally.

No matter how many vaccinations against covid one has, or is told to have, NOTHING can ever replace STRICT SHIELDING against this largely airborne virus breathed out by infected people spraying covid 19 viruses and particles onto us through invisible microscopic water droplets!☝️👆

Hence as a lupus sufferer I’m strictly shielding until death. Sad but true.

refusing anymore vaccines. did three (in the states) and had horrible response to each one with flaring of all my symptoms and each vaccine my flares would get worse and it would take longer to bounce back. The last one was such a blow to my quality of life for so long i just decided id had enough. I was also getting the flu vaccine which did the same thing to a less severe degree. my rheumatologist has provided me with exemptions anytime iv needed one for work thankfully. im in healthcare so by no means am i an anti vaccine person i still stand behind them 100%, just not for myself until my other issues are more under control

Just as a follow-up, I did get my spring booster today. They didn’t go through all the list of eligibility criteria - they just said if you get invited, you get it. So after AZx2, Pfizer and then Moderna, I had another Pfizer. And, touching wood, I haven’t had Covid yet.
