Dairy and egg intolerance

6 weeks ago I paid for a blood test to check for food intolerances. The company warned me there might not be a strong result as I am on hydroxychloroquine and a strong antihistamine. The results came back strong reaction to cows milk, eggs and peanuts. For last 5 weeks I have eliminated all these things. I am sleeping well, I have less pain and more energy. Cough has cleared up, choking on food has improved and my sinuses are clearer.

Has anyone else tried this?

Intolerance or allergy? There are no evidence based blood tests for food intolerance only IgE mediated food allergy.

Intolerance not allergy.

There is no evidence base behind any of these tests unfortunately.

The evidence is in the choking, rashes, diarrhoea, etc. and my problem was the antibiotics and hormones in the dairy coming through in the food - that is why I was able to re-introduce some dairy as long as it was organic. I still can't take non-organic. The secret is in doing your own research and knowing your body and treating it the right way.

Yes, it worked for me and now I can eat organic free range eggs about twice a week by introducing slowly and a little cheese and yogurt once a week.

That’s very encouraging thank you for sharing. Will do the 12 week elimination and then test reintroduction of organic products. X

It took longer than 12 weeks for me, but hopefully not for you.

I have already seen improvements but slowly. I have notes of symptoms from before thankfully I wrote them down as the changes and improvements are so subtle. If I do reintroduce anything it won’t be in a hurry!

One of the effects of my brain surgery (to remove 2 brain tumours) was Epilepsy then lupus. this caused loss of balance, appetite, bladder control and skin problems, my back started to peel, and I was in agony, so my Neurosurgeon admitted me to Addenbrooke's hospital and one of his trainee doctors discovered in his research that Quinine has a good effect on Lupus, and hydroxychloroquine was given to me and helped control the awful effects I had been getting.

I have always been a bit dozy from the sedatives that I take to control the Epilepsy, but hydroxychloroquine seems to have added to this a bit. It also instantly cured the nausea I had felt whenever I saw food (or even water) and I had lost 21 lbs in the last 21 days - causing concern with the hospital nutritionist. I rapidly restored it, plus about 10 more! But the only other side effect I've had is slight constipation, for which I take appropriate medication, so you could say that hydroxychloroquine has been my saviour!

I found Quinoric version of hydroxychloroquine caused constipation. Black Rock brand is much better and might be worth swapping to?

Just an update. I shared my blood results with rheumatologist and GP they were very excited as my symptoms have improved so much! I also have seen my Hba1c diabetes reduce from 54 to 45 from March to June. I think my next test result will be even better. I am pain free with no headaches and more energy. It is intolerance that exacerbates the UCTD. I am so glad I got the test done.
