More Problems

I had to go to another doctor yesterday! Well, would you believe that on top of Lupus, COPD, malignant hypertension, cancer, I now have cataracts! Everything is blurry, they can correct it some with glasses, but need cataract surgery. I’m not going to have this done until the cancer surgery is done. I do go next week to see the surgeon about robotic surgery to have the cancer removed?

Poor Tiras! You are going through a lot. I’m sending you warm hugs.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes last year, which required a lot of extra post op protocols because of my disorders but the difference in my sight is amazing. I had no idea how poor my eyesight had become. I hope in due course you get the same result x

Thank you!

I can’t do everything at one time! It takes me longer to heal because of Lupus!

So I’ll have to prioritize, this may not be the correct way to look at it, but, if they can’t get all of the cancer, then I won’t need my eyes repaired. No use in wasting money!

Wishing you the best!

If its any help my husband had both eyes done without any problems , it should only take 1/2 hr roughly, you just need to be careful about bending and lift for a while afterwards and remember the drops. You are going through alot at the moment, our thoughts are with you 🌸

Thank you! And yes it does.

I am going to have the surgery for the cancer first, get over that, then see where I’m at? Then have that done! For the time being, I’ve got glasses ordered from the optometrist, that will some what make it better, it will still be blurry, just not quite as bad as it is now?

Hi Tiras so sorry to hear what is happening to you. I have had Lupus for 36 years along with hypotension for more or less the same time. I had cataracts caused by medication so my doctor said on both eyes had them removed about 3 years ago. Only realized something was wrong when I could only see the colour of the traffic lights when I was on top of them. It was a very straight forward op. One eye first then the following week the other eye, no pain. Best thing ever. Never had a problem since. Really wish you well with your surgery next week. Cataract surgery is nothing to worry about. Take care

Hello Raceworks;

Thank you! I plan to get it done, I just have so many other issues (especially the cancer) that take priority. I can see however, it is blurry. The doctor is doing some glasses for me that will help some? I will use them until I’m over everything else.

Thank You again & wishing you the BEST!

Sending warm hugs and blessing prayers. My husband had robotic surgery for prostate cancer. It’s amazing what they can do! Please think positive that you will be cured. We will all be pulling for you. I just found out I have cataracts as well and chose to put it off as I had been down with a flare for several months. I just can’t deal with it and another potential flare right now. It’s so depressing. My husband had cataract surgery. He did okay. Has many eye issues. I read a lot and it makes it difficult and blurry. One thing at a time! 🙏

Hi Twitchy;

Thank You!

Yes, it seems that everything is happening at once! I go to the surgeon this Thursday to schedule the surgery for the cancer. It is starting to get overwhelming!

All I can do is take one day at a time!

Just keep going!

Hope You Have A Great Day!

in reply to Tiras

What I would say Tiras is that, unlike your Lupus issues, cancer surgery and cataracts are some of most common types of procedures performed. So the chances of both being very successful are extremely high. Best of luck to you 😊

However, it has been an extremely rough month thus far, I am at the hospital emergency room with my Mother. (March 17 is not a good day, Dad passed away 2 years ago today) she is being admitted to the hospital. Her platelets have dropped to 3 (normal is 450!) I’m not sure how much more I can take?!😢😨

in reply to Tiras

Sorry to learn this. Having lost both my parents in my 40s and had many spells of relentless misfortune since- I can relate.

But all we can do is appreciate what we have in the here and now Tiras - nothing is finite. I really hope your mum pulls through and everything else goes as smoothly as it possibly can - better times ahead 🤞🏽

So sorry to hear you are having to deal with so much I just wanted to say I also have COPD and through using steroids for 30 plus years I also needed to have cataracts removed . The operation was nothing and I was so scared as I knew I’d be awake but I’d be lying to say it was anything to worry about. It’s after you must take care bending carrying things and taking care of other ongoing illnesses. As steroids have stopped my adrenals working and I have to take hydrocortisone now for life I was so naive regarding steroids in the early years We have access to so much more info with the internet I also have ostoporosis and I’m pre diabetics thanks to these wee tablets I once thought were a wonder drug Sorry about my wee rant. I hope your surgery goes well and when cataract surgery comes round the actual op takes no time just after take care Best of luck with everything xx

Hi Carol:

Thank You!

I don’t consider this a rant. I understand completely, I too, have COPD, and have been taking steroids (prednisone 5mg) daily for 6 or 7 years. The prednisone is for LUPUS & COPD.

Thank You Again!
